This autumn, I’m delighted to announce that another streaming platform will become the new home for one of the highly anticipated Shonen Jump revivals that are generating quite a buzz. It’s common for big anime titles to grace multiple platforms, with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Crunchyroll often sharing the limelight during each season. Given that Disney holds a substantial stake in Hulu, it’s no surprise that they sometimes share content between the two platforms. In fact, Hulu has been known to host Disney’s more mature or overseas titles initially released on Disney’s Star platform.
As we move forward into fall 2025 and Hulu is already slated to showcase many of the most anticipated anime, they can further enhance their offerings by adding yet another exciting project to their ever-expanding collection of anime series.
A new trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation of the popular 1980s heist manga, Cat’s Eye, has been released by Hulu. The show is set to stream on their platform when it premieres on September 26th in the US. Originally, it was thought that Cat’s Eye would be exclusive to Disney+, but now it appears that it will also be available on Hulu. This anime falls under Disney’s “Star” branding, which includes both Disney+ and Hulu in the US, as well as the Star platform in other countries. For viewers residing outside the US, they may watch Cat’s Eye on either Disney+ or Star.
Everything To Know About the New Cat’s Eye Anime
The latest trailer for the Hulu anime version of “Cat’s Eye,” released on September 26th, contains footage and scenes similar to those in previous trailers. Originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1985, the manga was created by Tsukasa Hojo, a renowned manga artist known for “City Hunter” and “Angel Heart.” The series revolves around three sister-heroes who own a cafe in Tokyo while secretly leading a life as sophisticated art thieves. Their father’s priceless artwork is their main target. Hitomi Kisugi, the middle sister, is the story’s central character, leaving cat’s eye calling cards for the police to trace them. The “Cat’s Eye” manga was unique in its time due to having three female leads in an adventure series, which wasn’t common at Shonen Jump.
The manga named “Cat’s Eye” was transformed into two separate anime series – one from 1983 to 1984 and the other from 1984 to 1985. A movie crossover with “Lupin the III” titled “Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat’s Eye” aired on Amazon Prime in 2023. Apart from animated adaptations, multiple live-action dramas have been created based on the original manga as well. A Japanese language live-action film of “Cat’s Eye” was released in 1997. The French drama series titled “Cat’s Eye” premiered internationally on Amazon Prime Video in November 2024, consisting of eight episodes and a renewal for a second season. The new Cat’s Eye anime is being produced by Liden Films, the same studio responsible for the 2016 “Berserk” anime.
