Coachella 2026: Revisit Former Couples Who Attended Music Festival

There’s nothing like a desert date day.

Coachella 2026 is officially underway, drawing celebrities and music fans to Indio, California for the annual festival.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m predicting Coachella will be the place to be this year! So many people will be enjoying incredible performances from headliners like Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G. The festival kicks off April 10th, with a second weekend following on April 17th, and honestly, it’s become a bit of a tradition for celebrities to turn it into a romantic desert escape. Expect to see a lot of cute couples enjoying the music and sunshine!

Coachella is a popular spot for couples to display their affection, from sharing a dance to posing for pictures at iconic landmarks like the Ferris wheel. And let’s not forget the matching, desert-inspired outfits – who could forget Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s sweet displays of affection last year?

Hailey Bieber is expected to be at Coachella to cheer on her husband, Justin, after sharing her enthusiasm when he was announced as a headliner. She posted on Instagram in November, simply writing, “BIEBERCHELLA!!!!!!!!! :).”

Following Justin’s Grammy performance in February, Hailey Bieber hinted at her own upcoming appearance at Coachella. She shared a video of herself making a small gesture, writing, “You can definitely tell… see you at Coachella!”

While Coachella is known for sparking romance, not all couples who meet or appear there stay together. A prime example is Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler, who were a regular pair at the festival for years but ended their nine-year relationship in January 2020.

Everyone remembers when Selena Gomez and The Weeknd were together at Coachella in 2017, especially since they broke up just 10 months later.

While not everyone finds lasting romance at the festival, it remains a popular place to fall in love, suggesting a desert dance party can work wonders for the heart.

Let’s take a look back at all the couples who have shared the Coachella experience together.

In 2017, the singer of “Fetish” really wanted to attend Coachella with a popular R&B artist, and they did start a relationship. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long, ending after just ten months.

A year later, The Weeknd got back together with Bella Hadid, though they would eventually break up for good in 2019.

Known for her frequent appearances at Coachella, the former High School Musical star and the Elvis actor were a couple for nine years before splitting up in January 2020.

I remember when Kendall Jenner and her then-boyfriend were so cute together! They had this amazing weekend at Coachella in 2018, and I was totally rooting for them. It was such a shame things didn’t work out later that year, though – their relationship sadly just faded away.

The singers packed on the PDA at the festival in 2019 but broke up that September.

Before her relationship with Zayn Malik, who she shares a daughter named Khai with, Gigi Hadid attended Coachella with Australian singer-songwriter in April 2015.

They called it quits the following month after two years of dating.

Throughout 2011 and 2012, the couple repeatedly broke up and reconciled. Maybe their time together at Coachella led them on?

Despite breaking up in the summer of 2012 following reports of Kristen Stewart having an affair with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, the Twilight couple reconciled by the time Coachella rolled around in 2013.

Despite their shared love of music, they couldn’t fix their problems and eventually broke up soon after their desert trip.

In 2019, David and Victoria Beckham’s son was seen on a date with a model at the Coachella music festival. They ended their relationship the following August.

Fans will remember Taylor Swift’s dramatic blonde hairstyle she revealed while at Coachella in 2016, when she was with DJ Calvin Harris. Sadly, the relationship didn’t last, and they broke up just a few months later.

Oh my gosh, can you believe it? Before they were HUGE with Big Little Lies and You, Shailene and Penn were at Coachella together in 2012! I have pictures everywhere. They were so cute together! It’s so sad they split up in 2013, after dating for two whole years. I was genuinely heartbroken when I found out!

Following his split from Robin Wright in 2007, Sean Penn was linked to actress Sienna Miller after they were seen together at the Coachella music festival in 2008. However, the relationship didn’t last, and Penn later rekindled his romance with Wright. They continued to have an unsteady relationship until their divorce was finalized in 2009.

In 2017, the socialite, known for attending Coachella, introduced the actor from Leftovers to the festival. They became engaged in January 2018, but broke up after only ten months.

I remember when Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal were spotted together at Coachella back in 2012 – it seems like ages ago! Looking back, it’s interesting because that was five years before they publicly announced they were splitting up. It just goes to show you never really know what’s going on behind the scenes, even when things look good.

For ten years, until they split in 2016, the stars of Dawson’s Creek and Inglourious Basterds were frequently seen together at the Coachella music festival.

In 2014, Hilary Duff surprised many by bringing her soon-to-be ex-husband to the Coachella music festival, leading to speculation they might get back together. However, she filed for divorce a year later.

Despite their Vampire Diaries co-stars having a great time at Coachella in 2012, their three-year relationship ended in 2013.

I remember being so excited when Nick Jonas and Olivia Culpo were together! They were seriously adorable and weren’t afraid to show it – I especially loved seeing them at Coachella in 2014. It was a real shock when they split up just a few months later in August, though. I was definitely sad to see them go their separate ways.

Before Kim Kardashian and her then-partner split in 2017, they attended the Coachella music festival together several times. Interestingly, Kylie Jenner also met Travis Scott – who would later become the father of her children, Stormi and Aire – at Coachella that same year.

The former Glee star and a dating coach were together for two years, attending Coachella in 2015 before splitting up in 2016.

The pair called it quits in 2016, but not before taking their love to Coachella that same year.

Alicia Silverstone, known for her role in Clueless, and her then-husband, a punk rocker, were at the Coachella music festival together in 2008. Ten years later, in 2018, they divorced.
