Firebreak” marks Remedy Entertainment’s initial venture into cooperative shooter games, yet they primarily concentrate on single-player titles. Reflecting this focus, their two major upcoming projects – “Control 2” and the remake of both “Max Payne 1 and 2” – are still in development, as mentioned in their recent half-year financial report.
The game is progressing well to reach its upcoming milestones, with the emphasis being on gameplay, settings, and missions by Remedy. Announced in 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, this sequel will be a role-playing game with a more modest budget compared to Alan Wake 2. Its prequel has just surpassed five million units sold.
The remake of Max Payne 1 and 2, initially announced in 2022, is continuing its full production process. During Q2 of 2025, the development team has been consistently moving forward with good progress. The collaboration between this team and Rockstar Games remains strong and productive, keeping the project on track as it approaches its next significant stage.
It’s uncertain when that phase will be reached or when the project will launch. However, creative director Sam Lake has shared his ambition to update classic elements to fit modern times and merge them into a unique experience. This task is quite challenging, so keep an eye out for future announcements.
