It looks like Marvel Studios won’t be featuring one of the more disturbing transformations from Spider-Man’s history in the new movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Reports indicate producers have decided to leave out the Man-Spider mutation when the film comes out in July.
Why Spider-Man may not turn into Man-Spider in Brand New Day
During a recent Q&A on Discord hosted by Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, a fan asked about the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Specifically, they wanted to know if Peter Parker would fully transform into Man-Spider, or if the story would just show him becoming more aggressive. Perez, who was answering questions about several Marvel projects like VisionQuest, Wolverine, and X-Men, responded to the inquiry.
According to the insider, the idea of a ‘Man-Spider’ character has been discussed, but some producers are worried about how young viewers might react to a spider-like creature in the film. As of the latest information, the concept has been put on hold due to these concerns.
The Man-Spider is a terrifying, spider-like form of the character, created through mutation. It’s appeared in Marvel comics and the animated series from the 1990s, with Jim Cummings providing the voice. In the new movie, the controversial transformation of Peter Parker into this many-limbed creature is a key point of discussion.
The apparent focus on Peter Parker’s emotional journey after the events of No Way Home suggests the new Brand New Day storyline will explore the aftermath of Doctor Strange’s memory-altering spell. As the official description states, Peter Parker is effectively forgotten, even though Spider-Man still fights to keep New York safe.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m already so excited about this new film! The cast is incredible – Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and even Mark Ruffalo are all returning, plus they’ve added Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink! The first trailer gave us a glimpse of what’s to come, hinting at Bruce Banner’s involvement and showing that Peter’s relationship with MJ and Ned is really complicated now that they don’t remember him. It feels like there’s a lot at stake, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theaters on July 31, 2026.
