After appearing to get his life back on track in Coronation Street, Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) has shocked viewers by turning to violence and threatening his family with a gun.
His manipulative and destructive behavior started when he had an affair with his sister-in-law, Abi. However, he didn’t stay faithful to her either, and went on to have an affair with James Bailey.
Carl falsely accused his sister, Debbie (Sue Devaney), of causing a fatal accident while driving recklessly, and surprisingly, she didn’t report him. It was later revealed she kept quiet because she was hiding a secret from the past.
It turned out he wasn’t her brother, but her son. She had made the difficult decision to let her parents raise him as if he were their own.
Carl was incredibly angry to discover he’d been deceived for forty years, and initially wanted Debbie to be imprisoned for life. Luckily, that didn’t come to pass. After Debbie was released, Carl decided to leave Weatherfield and start a new life elsewhere.

She gave him some money in an envelope, but her uncle, Kevin, quickly took it back. Angry about this, Carl went to the garage intending to sabotage Kevin’s car by cutting the brake lines.
Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) saw the man and began filming on his phone, but while doing so, he accidentally bumped into a jack lift, causing its motor to fall and hit the man. Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) then quickly moved the injured man to the hospital.
Today on the show, Kevin got a letter from a garage in Eccles requesting a reference for someone named Carl. He firmly told them he wouldn’t provide one and asked Carl to leave him alone.

Carl ran into Fiona Morley, an old friend who’d previously asked him to help move stolen vehicles through Webster’s Autocentre. She offered him another questionable job and gave him a package to deliver.
Tyrone was sharing a history project video his daughter, Ruby (Billie Naylor), had made. He briefly left his phone with Kevin to get coffee, not realizing Kevin would also end up watching a video of someone tampering with Carl’s brakes.
Kevin was incredibly angry and pounded on Carl’s door, demanding an explanation. Tyrone and Ronnie hurried over, attempting to stop the argument from escalating.

The group went to the garage, and Ronnie begged Carl and Kevin to stop fighting and make peace for Debbie’s sake. However, it was obvious they wouldn’t agree, and Tyrone said he was tired of getting caught up in their family problems.
Unable to reach an agreement, Carl took the package from Fiona and then pointed a gun at Kevin.
The other men doubted its authenticity, but Tyrone didn’t want to chance it and just wanted to return home to his family. Completely disheartened by what Kevin had said, Carl pushed the gun away with his foot.
He said that if he wasn’t prepared to give him a second chance, he may as well shoot him.
What will Kevin do?
