A major surprise on Sunday’s Coronation Street (April 5th) dramatically altered the future for Ben Driscoll, played by Aaron McCusker.
Fans had previously learned that Ben is the biological son of Jim McDonald (Charlie Lawson), the result of an affair between Jim and Ben’s mother, Maggie (Pauline McLynn).
This would make him Steve McDonald’s half-brother, and reveal that Alan Driscoll, who he believed was his father, isn’t actually related to him.
Today on the show, Ben became suspicious after a disagreement with his mother. She unintentionally revealed that he and his mother share a biological connection that his father doesn’t, leading Ben to question his parentage.

Ben was stuck on something Maggie had said and repeatedly asked her to explain, but she refused to tell him what she meant.
Seeing how upset he was becoming, Maggie confessed she’d had a brief encounter with an unknown British soldier at a club. She didn’t even learn his name.
Back at the bar, Ben and Steve were chatting, and Steve mentioned that Ollie and Amy were alone together at someone’s house.
Upon hearing it, Maggie ran out to go and stop them from going too far…

She blurted out, “You two can’t date—you’re cousins!” completely unaware she’d walked in on them kissing.
Ben and Steve were both baffled as Maggie admitted what happened to the pair.
Both families are reeling from the recent events, leaving them wondering if they can overcome the confusion and build a connection.
No one yet knows, but Maggie caused the death of Ben’s adoptive father, Alan Driscoll. She pushed him down the stairs during a fight about her relationship with Jim.
