Coronation Street and more stars confirmed for special Amandaland sketch in Comic Relief

The popular sitcom Amandaland will be celebrated with a special sketch for Comic Relief 2026, featuring a lineup of well-known actresses named Amanda.

I’m really excited to hear that Lucy Punch and Philippa Dunne are returning as Amanda and Anne! Apparently, in a new story, these two – Amanda, the rather stuck-up one, and poor Anne, who always gets the short end of the stick – are invited to BBC Broadcasting House for an interview with Sara Cox. It sounds like it’s going to be a fun watch, seeing how they handle that!

Unfortunately, things don’t go as expected, leading to confusion, comical errors, and plenty of physical comedy. The chaos involves several other well-known Amandas from British television.

The show will feature a lineup of Amandas, including Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, property expert Amanda Lamb, Coronation Street star Amanda Barrie, TV presenter Amanda Byram, and Amanda Collier from the recent series of The Traitors.

The sketch will debut during the Comic Relief telethon on Friday, March 20th at 7pm. You can watch it on BBC One, iPlayer, and YouTube. A sneak peek will be shown on Thursday night’s The One Show.

Being part of a Comic Relief sketch is a really special opportunity,” said Dunne, who stars alongside Lucy. “I’m excited to work with Lucy again, meet everyone playing Amanda, and even just be in the BBC building – though I promise I won’t go snooping around!

She added that she always enjoys playing the characters of Amanda and Anne. They’re a lot of fun because it gives them a chance to be silly and lighthearted, which she really appreciates.

Holden said he’s a huge fan of the show Amandaland, watching it regularly with his family. He admitted it feels surreal to be part of it, especially since his name is often referenced in the sitcom.

Joining the cast is Diane Morgan as a version of herself – a well-known BBC radio host. Lydia West, known for her roles in It’s A Sin and Big Mood, plays her stressed-out producer, and Lucia Keskin (Things You Should Have Done) appears as a production assistant.

According to the BBC, the funds raised during this year’s Red Nose Day will provide crucial support like food, housing, and safety for people in need.

Cox explained that Red Nose Day is a chance for people across the country to unite and demonstrate how even small, fun efforts can have a significant impact.

Details on how to get involved can be found on the Comic Relief website.

Amandaland would be a great fit for Comic Relief. It was the BBC’s most popular comedy in 2025, and its Christmas special was a hit with viewers. Plus, a second season is already planned.

This series revisits Punch, the character we first met in Motherland, as she navigates life with her teenage son and begins dating again after her divorce.

Amandaland is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
