I’m so thrilled! They just announced the first cast members for the 2027 UK tour of The Full Monty, and everyone’s buzzing about it. It’s going to be amazing!
The beloved film, set to turn 30 in 2027, has been turned into a stage play by the person who originally wrote the movie, Simon Beaufoy.
Although more actors haven’t been announced yet, the first cast list already includes several well-known stars.
The cast features well-known actors including Kevin Clifton (from Strictly Come Dancing) as Gaz, Stewart Wright (known for Doc Martin) as Dave, James Gaddas (of Coronation Street) as Gerald, Ben Onwukwe (also from Coronation Street) as Horse, Jon-Paul Bell (Hollyoaks) as Guy, and Zrey Sholapurkar (who appeared in Lark Rise to Candleford and at The Watermill Theatre) as Lomper.
The tour kicks off in Sheffield – the film’s hometown – in January 2027. It will then visit nine cities across the UK, concluding in York in July 2027.
The Full Monty, a film set in Sheffield in the mid-1990s, tells the story of a group of friends struggling to make ends meet during tough economic times – a situation many people can still connect with today.
Simon Beaufoy, the writer behind the upcoming 2027 tour, noted that while Britain has evolved a lot since the original ‘The Full Monty’ debuted thirty years ago, people still need humor, kindness, and respect.
It’s wonderful to have the Monty Men touring again! They’re perfectly imperfect – flaws, funny moments, and all – and they’re bringing a lot of happiness to people.
