Tonight’s episode of Coronation Street has been cancelled on ITV, despite it being part of the show’s intense ‘murder week’ storyline.
This week, the show is featuring a special series of episodes that delve into a murder mystery, focusing on five potential victims.
Tonight’s episode of the soap opera has been cancelled. ITV1 will be showing the finale of ‘I’m A Celebrity South Africa’ instead.
Viewers will be pleased to know that the soap will be back in its usual slot on Monday.
The wedding of Carla and Lisa, which fans have been waiting for, finally happened on Thursday night’s episode of the soap opera.
But the celebrations were soon cut short by the discovery of a dead body by Betsy Swain.
Viewers first got a hint in February, during an episode that jumped ahead in time, revealing that one of five characters – Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh, Maggie Driscoll, and Theo Silverton – would meet a shocking and fatal end.
The latest episode of the show was supposed to reveal who died and who committed the murders, but it’s been delayed, so viewers will have to wait longer for those answers.

Corrie producer Kate Brooks recently shared the story behind a major storyline twist. She explained that the idea for a ‘flashforward’ – a scene showing events before they happen – came to her while on vacation at Euro Disney with her children. She had a few moments to herself in the shower and was brainstorming ways to make a ‘whodunit’ mystery feel new and exciting.
I wanted to grab viewers’ attention right away, before revealing the murder victim. That’s why I considered starting with a ‘who done it?’ approach, or even a flashforward to hook them into the story before they knew what it was about. I felt like that could really work.
The concept developed as we planned the story and wrote the script, but that was the initial core idea. Also, we had a special situation with five characters who were all complicated and, to some extent, acted as villains.
We realized the interesting thing about our story was that anyone could be either the hero or the villain. We decided to focus on that uncertainty and build the whole story around it.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm and from 7am on ITVX.
