Coronation Street fan favourite to face fire horror in shocking storyline next month

Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is facing a devastating situation in Coronation Street: a fire could destroy both his cafe, Roy’s Rolls, and his home.

TopMob is aware that a beloved character will be seriously injured in a fire during an upcoming storyline in April.

Roy bought the cafe – then known as Jim’s Cafe – in 1997. Alma Baldwin, one of the original owners, sold her share to help her husband, Mike. Roy teamed up with Gail Platt as a business partner and quickly made the cafe his own, starting with a new name.

A year after moving, he decorated his new home with his collection of railway items, essentially making it part of his existing apartment. Losing all of these possessions, and the cherished memories they held of his late wife, Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh), would devastate him completely.

People will also worry about his well-being after the fire, especially as smoke pours from the windows and it becomes clear he’s stuck inside.

Roy is hospitalised, but will he live to serve up another bacon sarnie?

eBay and ITV’s charity project, Reloved, recently sold the room divider used at the front of the cafe set. This means the iconic set could be getting a refresh soon, as the sale will fund a makeover.

Given Roy’s iconic status on the show, his neighbors are sure to be upset, and everyone will likely start trying to figure out who’s to blame.

Next week on the show, Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove), a long-time employee of Roy’s, finds herself unable to get away from her stalker, Mal Roper (Tim Treloar).

After weeks in a coma from an attack by Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), he unexpectedly recovers and immediately seeks out his tormentor, much to her surprise. Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) tries to stop him, but the situation soon changes.

Okay, so things are getting really intense. Mal just had this huge realization – a sudden memory of the night he was attacked. And poor Dev? He’s been pulled in for questioning by the police. Honestly, it’s like something straight out of a thriller!

Bernie worries she might have to turn in her own son to protect her husband, Kit. He tries to calm her, saying there’s not much proof to support what their son, Mal, is claiming, and they’ll likely be fine. But later that night, she goes to Mal’s hotel room to overhear the terrible demand he’s made.

Is Mal now trying to hurt one of her close friends? It definitely looks like he’s seeking revenge after she rejected him earlier this year. Interestingly, Roy originally introduced Bernie to Mal, suspecting Mal was having an affair with his wife.

Or is the mystery surrounding Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) the answer? She recently started working to cover maternity leave for her sister, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding).

She’s hiding a lot of secrets, but could she really be an arsonist?
