Tony Maudsley and Jodie Prenger, who play George and Glenda Shuttleworth on Coronation Street, have renewed their contracts with ITV to continue their roles on the show.
Both stars will remain on the cobbles for at least another year.
Actor Maudsley, who began playing the undertaker on the show in 2020, announced on social media that he’ll be staying on longer.
He shared a photo of himself toasting with a glass of sparkling wine and announced on Sunday, March 1st, that he’d signed a new contract with Coronation Street. He joked that he ‘bit their hand off’ to accept, and is excited to see what future storylines hold for his character, George – hoping for something other than discovering more dead bodies!
The actor will be joined by his on-screen sister, played by actress Susie Prenger. Prenger, who has been a lively and spirited barmaid on the show since 2022, recently told The Daily Star she’s signed a new contract to continue for another year. She admitted she always worries about being asked to return, so she was delighted to receive the offer.
She said she knew immediately she would sign the contract. She really enjoys being on the show and is excited to continue for another year.
Things won’t be easy for the pair, though. George will be shocked in future episodes when he finds out someone has been posting negative, fake reviews about the funeral home.
Next week, George becomes increasingly sure Annie is responsible for the negative one-star reviews, so Glenda attempts to fix things by posting phony five-star reviews.

The situation quickly gets worse when George is questioned about Annie’s accusations of fraud. He tries to have an urgent meeting with Christina and Glenda, but a phone call from his lawyer interrupts it.
Will George be able to wriggle his way out of this one?
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
