As a long-time Coronation Street viewer, I was really relieved to finally see Theo Silverton get called out for his awful behavior! George Shuttleworth overheard him verbally abusing Todd Grimshaw, and it’s a huge moment – it’s been clear for a while that Theo was controlling and nasty, so seeing someone finally intervene felt really satisfying. James Cartwright plays Theo brilliantly, making him convincingly awful, and it’s good to see Gareth Pierce’s Todd finally having some support.
On Wednesday’s episode, Todd and Theo unexpectedly got married! Theo blindfolded Todd and led him to the registry office, where Todd, seemingly lost in the moment, recited his vows and they were pronounced husband and husband.
After visiting Theo and Todd’s apartment to understand the strange ceremony, George finally saw Theo’s real personality. Back home, Theo mistakenly thought Todd was in the bathroom and started verbally attacking him, making unkind comments about how he looked.
However, unbeknown to Theo, it is not Todd he is shouting at, but actually George.

George came out of the bathroom to find Theo clearly upset, just as Todd walked back in, having been out to buy something.
George said something that really stuck with me. He pointed out how someone can seem perfectly fine one moment – even pleasant, like Dr. Jekyll – but then completely change, revealing a much darker side, like Mr. Hyde. It’s a strange thought, isn’t it? Like you don’t really know who you’re dealing with.
George later tells Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) about the events at the flat, clarifying that it wasn’t a wedding, but actually a kidnapping.
Todd had Gary and Maria at his wedding, and he wished you and I could have been there too, it seems.
I was really on the edge of my seat when Summer started pressing George about Theo. She was worried, and wanted to know if George honestly believed Theo could ever hurt Todd. It felt like a crucial moment, you know? Like she was trying to gauge whether there was a real threat hiding beneath the surface.

“I’m afraid I do. If he hasn’t already,” George responds.
Think back to the past five or six months. Todd hasn’t been doing well, and we’re his only family. We need to protect him from that person who’s hurting him.
George and Summer came up with a plan to help Todd, and George texted him a supportive message, offering him a place to stay.
It’s frustrating to watch Todd just completely dismiss the message – he’s so caught up in Theo’s way of thinking that he can’t even process it. It really shows how deeply Theo has influenced him, and he just carries on like nothing’s wrong.
Now that George and Summer are hopefully aware of Theo’s true nature, the abuse should finally stop.
