Spoiler warning for Corriedale, which aired on Monday 5th January 2025.
A major villain on Emmerdale and a much-loved character on Coronation Street will both die in a special crossover episode between the two shows.
John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), a manipulative character in the Dales, faced a shocking end after a violent confrontation involving a shotgun.
For months, John has been a fugitive after being responsible for two deaths and pushing his longtime rival, Aaron Dingle, off a cliff. Lately, he’s become increasingly desperate to get back with his husband and completely cut his brother, Robert, out of his life.
It was terrifying around Christmas. He tried to kill Robert, first with carbon monoxide poisoning, and then actually pointed a gun at him! Thankfully, Aaron showed up just in time and managed to stop everything. He somehow convinced the guy that he was secretly in love with Robert and they could escape to France together. It was a crazy situation, but Aaron really saved Robert’s life.

As they were leaving, Aaron suddenly took the weapon and pointed it at John, demanding he drive to the police station and surrender. John agreed, but when they got to a dark, stormy road, he attempted to stop him.
He crashed into Becky Swain’s (Amy Cudden’s) car after looking away from the road and taking his hands off the steering wheel.

Staying true to character, John attempted to flee, running into the woods as multiple cars crashed together. Police officer Kit Green knew John was a wanted man and immediately gave chase, with Robert and Cain Dingle close behind.
Kit was knocked out, and when Robert tried to intervene and grab the gun, Cain was shot. Yikes!

John vanished, but his actions had consequences. The final scene of the episode revealed his half-sister, Vic (Isabel Hodgins), standing over his body, shocked by what she had done.
Will she get away with the crime?
At Hotten General Hospital, Todd Grimshaw comforted a deeply upset Summer Spellman. They were both grieving the recent death of Billy Mayhew.

Billy was driving the minibus when it caught fire after the crash. He was trapped because his seatbelt wouldn’t unbuckle.
Theo Silverton, a man known for his abusive behavior (played by James Cartwright), surprisingly entered the overturned bus, appearing to attempt a rescue. However, his motives weren’t what they seemed.
Billy was the only person who knew Theo was hurting Todd, and immediately after Todd broke free from being tied up with the belt, Theo quickly reattached it and ran away. Shortly after, an explosion occurred, and Theo died.
Will Todd ever be able to escape Theo’s clutches?
The events surrounding Corriedale will likely have lasting consequences for both soap operas and their storylines.
Corriedale can be streamed on ITVX.
