Pearl Abyss recently shared a new video showcasing their upcoming open-world adventure game, Crimson Desert. The video introduces players to Kliff, the game’s main character, and the expansive world of Pywel.
Here are the latest details:
This video introduces Kliff, the hero of the game, and the world he inhabits: Pywel. Pywel is a vast, open world with everything from wild landscapes and lively cities to mysterious ruins and varied environments. All of this takes place as a growing conflict and supernatural threats emerge.
In Crimson Desert, you play as Kliff, a warrior from the Greymanes – a group known for keeping the peace in the northern region of Pailune. The game starts after that peace is broken, and Kliff must bring the Greymanes back together and take back their land. As you progress, you’ll find that the future of the whole continent hangs in the balance.
A dangerous force is rising from the Abyss, a strange and unstable dimension. Pieces of the Abyss are falling onto Pywel, and some people are trying to use these fragments for their own selfish purposes, threatening to throw the world into chaos. The story revolves around fixing the problems within the Abyss and stopping those who seek to control its power.
The video also details the open-world design of Crimson Desert. The game world, Pywel, is split into five diverse regions—Hernand, Pailune, Demeniss, Delesyia, and the Crimson Desert itself—each with unique stories, landscapes, and gameplay challenges. Players will primarily follow Kliff’s story, but they’re free to explore anywhere and complete quests for different factions, participate in massive battles and fortress sieges, or focus on smaller, personal storylines.
As you play, you’ll unlock two more characters to control alongside Kliff. Each one fights differently, with their own special abilities and weapons, offering fresh ways to explore the world and battle enemies.
As a player, I’m really excited about how much you can explore in Pywel! You’re not just walking around – you can ride horses, climb almost anything, and even glide! And it gets even better later on, because you unlock things like a mech with missiles and, get this, a dragon to ride! The whole world is packed with secrets – hidden treasures, old puzzles, and interesting places to find – so it really pays off to be curious and explore everything.
Players will face a variety of enemies in battles, including soldiers, magic-users, dangerous creatures, and mechanical foes, which will challenge their ability to adapt and their combat skills. They can find powerful items and gear by completing quests, winning battles, or exploring the game world. Learning about the world and its people will also help players uncover secrets, get helpful advice, and even unlock new abilities.
Crimson Desert is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on March 19.
