In Crimson Desert, Abyss Artifacts work like skill points, and are essential to how skills and equipment function. You collect these artifacts as physical items through gameplay – by fighting enemies, completing quests, and other methods – but some ways of getting them are more efficient than others.
This guide explains the fastest and most effective ways to collect Abyss Artifacts in Crimson Desert, which you need to improve your skills and gear.
Abyss Cressets
Abyss Cressets, similar to Abyss Nexuses, appear on the map as “Mysterious Energy” with a question mark. However, Cressets also contain an Abyss Artifact. Hernand alone has at least 22 of these.
Some Cressets require you to solve a puzzle before you can use them for fast travel.
Sealed Abyss Artifacts
These special Abyss Artifacts can’t be used until you finish their associated challenge, which might involve fighting, exploring, or discovering more about the game’s story. After completing the challenge, you can open them in your inventory to claim your rewards, including standard and Faded Abyss Artifacts.
Keep an eye on your minimap while exploring. You’ll see purple icons indicating nearby items.
Ancient Ruins Puzzles
You can earn special items called Abyss Artifacts by completing puzzles in various hidden locations throughout the world. There are at least fifteen of these locations to discover and unlock.
Shops And Merchants
Abyss Artifacts aren’t inexpensive, costing 28.50 Silver each, but you can find them at several shops. Typically, each shop only has one in stock, but remember that shop inventories refresh daily at midnight in the game. There’s also a limited total number of artifacts available.
Combat
If you missed it, the yellow bar on the left side of your minimap fills up as you defeat enemies. When it’s full, you’ll receive an Abyss Artifact.
You can earn a lot of combat experience by fighting the endlessly spawning monsters on the mountain before you reach the Reed Devil boss. This opportunity disappears once you defeat the boss, so it’s best to farm as much experience as you can handle before you get tired of it.
Questing
You can earn Abyss Artifacts by completing specific quests and side missions, or by defeating particular bosses.
The Challenges section of the Journal offers chances to win Abyss Artifacts, especially by finishing exploration and mastery challenges.
Looting
Abyss Artifacts act like skill points you can find in the world, so keep an eye out for them as you explore Pywel! You’ll find them lying around or inside containers. You can either learn what they look like to spot them easily, or watch your minimap for their unique yellow icon when you’re close by.
Respec
If you’re unhappy with how you’ve spent your skill points, you can reset them using Abyss Artifacts – specifically, the ones you’ve actively used to unlock skills. However, you’ll need Faded Abyss Artifacts to do this. You can see how many you have in the Skills tab, as the middle icon at the top-right. You can get these artifacts by buying them from Witches, crafting them with a blueprint, obtaining them from Sealed Abyss Artifacts, or finding them while exploring the world.
Keep in mind that using the “Reset All” function will completely reset all your skill trees. This can be frustrating if you only wanted to reset a few skills.
Those are all the best ways to amass Abyss Artifacts fast in Crimson Desert.
