When Crimson Desert first released on PS5, it didn’t receive good reviews, mainly because its Performance Mode ran poorly. This was because it didn’t use any upscaling technology, resulting in a lower quality image.
With the game’s newest update, Pearl Abyss has improved the initial release by including FSR 3 upscaling technology when the game runs at 60 frames per second.
This isn’t a flawless fix, and it doesn’t match the quality of the PS5 Pro’s advanced upscaling technology, but it should improve the picture quality when playing at 1080p.
However, you can disable the upscaling if you don’t like the results.
So, the PS5 already used some clever tech called FSR 3 to make games look good in Balanced and Quality modes. Now, they’ve finally brought that same visual quality to Performance Mode, which is awesome for smoother gameplay!
Here’s what the patch notes say:
- Added a “Fixed 4K Output” option to provide a sharper gameplay experience.
- When this option is enabled, the game will output at 4K resolution regardless of whether the display natively supports 4K, allowing for a sharper image.
- On the base PlayStation 5 in Performance Mode, enabling this option will allow you to upscale with FSR.
- This option is enabled by default and can be disabled.
- When disabled, the game will output according to the maximum resolution supported by the monitor.
The newest update, version 1.01.00, significantly improves the Korean open-world game, which has been getting better since its release, despite some initial mixed reactions.
In our review of Crimson Desert, we found the game a bit odd, making it hard to fully recommend. However, fans of open-world sandbox games will likely find enjoyable elements within it.
