Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert is a massive open-world RPG, and players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X can expect to spend a significant amount of time exploring it. Even focusing solely on the main story will take at least 60 hours, and many players will easily lose themselves in the game for hundreds of hours. Recent player experiences confirm there’s still plenty to uncover even after 100 hours of gameplay.
A player recently shared a neat discovery on the game’s Reddit page: after playing for over 110 hours, they found that double-tapping the button to sheath your weapon triggers a special animation when using a one-handed sword and shield. You can check it out below!

“Game of the Year”
While over five million people play this game, it’s not a completely unknown trick. However, recent discussions show that most players hadn’t discovered it. If even dedicated fans were unaware, it’s likely many casual players were also in the dark.
The most popular comment expresses regret, saying they’ll have to start the game over because they made so many mistakes. Another player simply declared it ‘Game of the Year’.
Okay, so someone else chimed in and basically said, “Great, another thing to learn after I’ve already sunk 130 hours into this game!” It’s like, thanks for the info, but a little late now, right?
I’ve been seeing a lot of people point out that Red Dead Redemption 2 actually did something really similar to this feature, and it makes total sense! Pearl Abyss has already said Red Dead 2 inspired them. Honestly, if Red Dead Redemption 2 hadn’t come out first, Crimson Desert would probably be the most technically impressive open-world game I’ve ever seen.
Just so you know, the issue described in the Reddit post comes from someone playing with a controller, and it’s easily repeatable that way. Using a keyboard and mouse is a different situation – many players say it doesn’t work at all, or only works sometimes.
