The release of Crimson Desert, the prequel to the popular online game Black Desert Online, is coming soon.
After its initial announcement in 2023, with trailers and previews now available, it’s finally time to get hyped!
If you’re excited about the new open-world game Crimson Desert from Pearl Abyss, here’s everything you need to know about when it’s coming out and other important details.
When is the Crimson Desert release date?
Crimson Desert releases on 19th March 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This was revealed during last September’s Sony State of Play as part of a new trailer.
I was really excited when they first announced this game was coming out in 2024, but it got delayed. Thankfully, the trailer at The Game Awards this year seemed to hint that we’ll finally get our hands on it in late 2025, which is a bit of a wait, but I’m still hyped!
So, the game got delayed again, which was a bummer. I’m really hoping this time, March 19th is finally the day we can play!

Crimson Desert gameplay and story details
I’m really excited about Crimson Desert! It’s shaping up to be a huge open-world fantasy RPG, and from what I’ve seen, you can really lose yourself in the world – exploring on foot or riding a horse. There’s tons to do, like completing quests, but also more relaxed stuff like fishing and gathering wood. And the best part? They’ve promised lots of dogs to pet! It’s looking like a dream game for me.
The combat appears to be engaging, focusing on well-timed combinations, blocking, and parrying. You’ll face diverse enemies, some of which you can even climb onto, similar to the battles in Shadow of the Colossus.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the story, but we do know the game takes place in the same world as Black Desert Online. Players will control Macduff, who battles evil forces while also dealing with his own personal history.
Is there a Crimson Desert trailer?
There is a trailer, and it’s pretty awesome. Check it out below, in all its dog-petting glory:
