Crimson Desert’s Latest Patch is Small But Important – 10 Biggest New Additions

Someone recently joked about the Pearl Abyss team never sleeping, and it’s easy to see why! Just days after the large 1.06 update for Crimson Desert, they’ve already released patch 1.07. This isn’t just a quick fix – it’s a complete update, though not as massive as some previous ones. It includes some important new features, particularly for players who enjoy unarmed combat. Let’s dive into 10 of the biggest changes, starting with…

More Boss Rematches

We’ve added five more boss rematch fights, bringing the total number available to 74! You can fight these bosses as they were originally, using Reminisce, or adjust their difficulty to match your current level with Resonate. We don’t want to reveal all the new additions, but we’re especially excited to revisit a more challenging version of Goyen – a favorite fight from the main story – and get another chance to battle Muskan.

New Unarmed Skills for Damiane

Damiane wasn’t very strong in close combat before, which was disappointing because she had the potential to be a powerful fighter. This update gives her a complete set of unarmed moves, including a five-hit combo, a backwards-dodging kick called Drifting Kick, and a fast three-kick combo named Turning Kick. She also gains new moves like Ascension, which launches opponents into the air, and Cyclone, a special attack similar to a Poisonrana after using Piercing Light. There’s even more to explore with elemental enhancements, giving players many new ways to play as Damiane and cause chaos.

Oongka Damiane Get Aerial Stab

Damiane and Oongka have learned powerful new abilities previously exclusive to Kliff, including Focused Force Palm, Force Current, and now Aerial Stab. This new skill lets both characters slash through the air, allowing them to attack enemies in the air or, more commonly, quickly move around the game world. Aerial Stab is a key part of Kliff’s ability to climb and scale obstacles, and it’s now fantastic that Damiane and Oongka can do the same.

Kliff’s Unarmed Blinding Flash Finisher

One of the more unusual additions to Kliff’s abilities is his Blinding Flash. Originally, he could only use it with a weapon, but the developers later allowed him to perform it even when fighting without one. It’s amusing because, without a weapon, there’s nothing to actually reflect light and blind the opponent, yet the Blinding Flash Finisher works anyway! It feels natural that both versions of the move would exist – it would have been strange if he could only use it with a weapon – but it’s still a funny detail.

More Wolf and Bear Types as Mounts

The latest update lets players register tamed animals like bears and wolves as special mounts. Update 1.07 also adds variety – you can now find these mounts in different colors. It’s mostly a visual upgrade, but having more options for how your mount looks is a welcome addition for many players.

Increased Animals in the World as Mounts

We’ve added reins to special mounts to make them feel even more realistic, and we’ve also increased the variety of animals you can ride. Players have reported being able to return to places like the Legendary White Tiger’s lair and find regular tigers to tame. You can also now tame the larger wolves in Hernand and Pailune.

Combat Improvements for Oongka

We’ve refined Damiane’s hand-to-hand combat animations, and Oongka has received some attention too! His Explosive Strike now has three charge levels, each dealing more damage than the last. Plus, players who like using two weapons will find it smoother to link together quick Stabs, making short work of enemies.

Hit ‘Em While They’re Down

We’ve made some great improvements to unarmed combat, and the biggest change is that you can now hit enemies who are down on the ground. Previously, you had to wait for them to stand up or carefully time attacks to keep them airborne. Now, most punches and kicks will connect with grounded opponents, making combat flow much better. Keep in mind that not all attacks work this way, so try out different combinations to see what works best!

Deferred Advance Fix

If you’re not familiar with the details of the story, this might not seem like a big deal, but I was happy to see this issue finally fixed. In Chapter 12, during the “Deferred Advance” mission, players summon Blackstar to destroy three specific targets. This part of the game often frustrated players because it could be quite repetitive. What made it even worse was that if you failed or restarted the mission, Blackstar wouldn’t have full health, making subsequent attempts harder. The recent 1.07 patch resolves this, making the mission much more enjoyable.

The Many Fixes

This update includes a variety of fixes and improvements, both big and small. For example, floppy-eared bulldogs can now properly equip the Sigil of Valor, and you can interrupt eating animations on easier difficulties, even if you try to perform another action. We’ve also fixed an issue where the Eastern Witch’s Fan could disappear during material extraction. Characters at the Saltroad Trading Post should now appear as intended, and players with AMD driver version 26.5.1 should no longer experience GPU crashes. Finally, we’re continuing to refine the game’s translations for all supported languages.

It’s likely we’ll see more of these smaller updates in the future. This isn’t because they’re quicker to release or simpler to create, but because they allow developers to quickly address issues that weren’t quite ready for the larger, scheduled updates. Ultimately, how often these appear will depend on things like the timeline for the next major update and how thoroughly the fixes have been tested.

It seems like the team and company leaders are rushing to grab players’ attention right away. While other major game launches play a role, the company recently admitted that initial game sales will be strong, but will likely decrease over time, resulting in consistent performance but lower overall revenue.

It’s still uncertain if future updates will take longer to release, but the developers’ plans to expand the game and potentially add downloadable content suggest that Crimson Desert has a lot more potential to offer.

It’s hard to predict what the future holds – this flexible approach to updates is both surprising and admirable. For now, let’s simply enjoy the game, recognize the hard work of the developers, and wonder what exciting features they might introduce next.
