A lesser-known anime series on Crunchyroll is finally getting a new season after nearly ten years. Crunchyroll has a huge collection of these types of shows, and some have even connected with other anime. As the company continues to adapt popular light novels into anime, many series have enjoyed multiple seasons. However, one show had been on hold for almost a decade before this announcement.

While known for appearing in the popular crossover series Isekai Quartet, Saga of Tanya the Evil hasn’t had a new anime season in almost ten years. That’s about to change! A second season is confirmed to premiere in 2026, and a new trailer and poster have just been released, giving fans their first glimpse of what’s in store. Season 2 of Saga of Tanya the Evil is expected to premiere in 2026, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. Takayuki Yamamoto will direct the new episodes, taking over from Yutaka Uemura at Studio NUT. Kenta Ihara is back to write the scripts, and Yuji Hosogoe will once again handle character design and chief animation direction.

Fans have been waiting five years for the return of Yojo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil with Season 2. The show is often compared to other popular isekai series like Overlord, Re:Zero, and Konosuba, which have all released multiple seasons. While those shows continued, Saga of Tanya the Evil only received a single movie after its first season and hasn’t had new content since.

What Even Is Saga of Tanya the Evil?

Saga of Tanya the Evil is a particularly interesting anime from Kadokawa. It follows a man who is reborn into a new world, but as a young girl, and finds himself repeatedly reincarnated. To avoid dying and being reborn again, ‘Tanya’ must become a cold and efficient soldier in a world heavily inspired by World War I. It’s a series well worth revisiting.

The first season and movie of Saga of Tanya the Evil are now available to stream on Crunchyroll, with audio in both English and Japanese. The returning voice actors include Aoi Yuki as Tanya Degurechaff, Saori Hayami as Visha, Shinichiro Miki as Rerugen, Tessho Genda as Rudersdorf, and Hochu Otsuka as Zettour. You can also hear these actors in the Isekai Quartet crossover series.
