The popular anime The Apothecary Diaries, which has been a huge success for Crunchyroll since its adaptation from the original light novels, is getting even more content. Following the conclusion of its second season earlier this year, a new season of the TV anime and a brand new movie have been announced, giving fans more to look forward to than ever before.
To mark its second anniversary, The Apothecary Diaries has unveiled a new trailer with exciting news! A third season of the anime is confirmed to premiere next fall. Plus, a brand-new movie is planned for release in Japan in fall 2026. You can watch the trailer and see the commemorative poster below to celebrate these announcements.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 and Movie Coming in 2026
TOHO Animation has confirmed that Season 3 of The Apothecary Diaries will be split into two parts, just like the previous seasons. The first part will premiere in October 2026, and after a short break, the second part will air in April 2027. In addition to the new season, a full-length movie is also planned for release around the same time.
A new movie based on The Apothecary Diaries is scheduled to come out in Japan in October 2026. While the title and staff haven’t been announced yet, the film will tell an original story that hasn’t appeared in the novels or manga. The screenplay is being written by Natsu Hyuga, the author of the original series, which is great news for fans. Currently, there’s no word on when the movie might be released outside of Japan.
Why You Should Watch The Apothecary Diaries

It’s not surprising that The Apothecary Diaries will return next year with both a new season and a movie. The series has become incredibly popular in just two years since the anime began airing. It’s quickly gained a lot of online attention due to its consistently strong episodes, which successfully combine romance and mystery. Fans are especially invested in both the developing romantic storyline and the central, unfolding mystery.
The series revolves around a central mystery each season, which the main character, Maomao, gradually solves while navigating palace politics and social complexities. Smaller, weekly mysteries add layers to the overarching plot, making the show increasingly engaging. You can now stream both seasons of The Apothecary Diaries on Crunchyroll and see for yourself!
