With Halloween just around the corner, streaming services are adding a lot of great spooky content, and Prime Video is joining in. While Netflix and Tubi are offering movies like *Troll* and *An American Werewolf in London*, Prime Video has expanded its selection of monster movies, including five classic Universal Monsters films and a popular, beloved monster movie from the 1990s.
Ron Howard’s 1990 monster comedy-horror film, *Tremors*, starring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross, and Reba McEntire, is now available on Prime Video. The story takes place in the quiet desert town of Perfection, Nevada, which is disturbed by unusual ground tremors—caused by massive, underground worms with a taste for people. *Tremors* was a big hit and spawned a franchise, though only the original film is currently included with a Prime Video subscription; the other six *Tremors* movies are available to rent or purchase.
Tremors Became a Streaming Hit When It Joined Prime Video
The classic monster movie, *Tremors*, quickly became popular after being added to Prime Video. It jumped into the top 10 movies on the streaming service within days, reaching number 8. It shared the list with other well-known films like James Bond movies *No Time to Die* and *Casino Royale*, Prime Video’s romantic comedy *Maintenance Required*, and the 2025 action thriller *Play Dirty* starring Mark Wahlberg.
While it’s no longer in the top 10, it’s clear why *Tremors* was so popular. The film is a fantastic tribute to the classic, low-budget monster movies of the 1950s. It borrows familiar elements – like a remote town and relatable heroes – but updates them with modern effects and a winning combination of humor and scares. The practical effects and creature design, which bring the giant underground worms to life, are surprisingly well-done and still look good today. Even after all these years, *Tremors* is a hugely enjoyable movie that holds up to repeat viewings.
What started as a cheap monster movie surprisingly became a big success. It made over $16 million despite only costing $10 million to produce, and it eventually led to a whole series of films and a television show. The first movie is highly rated, earning an 89% approval rating from critics and a 76% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
Where To Stream the Tremors Franchise
The *Tremors* series includes seven movies and a 13-episode TV show, but currently, only the first movie is available to watch with a streaming subscription. If you want to watch the rest – *Tremors 2: Aftershocks*, *Tremors 3: Back to Perfection*, *Tremors 4: The Legend Begins*, *Tremors 5: Bloodlines*, *Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell*, and *Tremors: Shrieker Island* – you’ll need to rent or buy them online, like on Prime Video. The TV series isn’t available for streaming either.
