A much-loved game from the Xbox 360 and PS3 era is set to release a long-awaited follow-up, more than ten years after its original debut. Despite the abundance of video games available today, some titles fail to resonate with their intended audience for various reasons. These factors might include fierce competition at launch, inadequate marketing, or a mix of other circumstances. Titanfall 2, unfortunately, faced these challenges when it was sandwiched between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (alongside a remastered version of Call of Duty 4) during the busy fall release season.
Remasters can significantly enhance games and provide them with a new lease on life, as Lollipop Chainsaw discovered more recently. This Xbox 360 and PS3 hack-and-slash title, where a cheerleader battles the undead, had a relatively small fanbase when it debuted in 2012. However, a remastered version brought fresh attention to the game. Notably, Lollipop Chainsaw was written by James Gunn, who went on to direct Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy, which likely rekindled interest in the game since he wasn’t as well-known at the time of its original release.
Back in the day, I found myself captivated by the edgy and alluring game titled Lollipop Chainsaw. Its unique appeal drew me in, and now it looks like we might get to experience more of this iconic title! The original creators, Dragami Games, have teamed up with Nada Holdings to develop further projects under the Lollipop Chainsaw banner. While it’s not ruled out that we may see a film, TV series, or book based on the game, what excites me most is the prospect of new gaming experiences set within this quirky universe!
13 years ago, my team and I put our heart and soul into crafting the vibrant world of Lollipop Chainsaw. Ever since then, it’s been an incredible journey seeing the game resonate with so many players worldwide. We are humbled by the unwavering support and affection from our fans, and it genuinely touches us. To continue growing this cherished title and meet the expectations of our passionate community, Dragami Games is embarking on a new chapter of intellectual property development for Lollipop Chainsaw.
Nada Holdings’ team harbors a strong fondness and zest for the title, backed by a demonstrable history in intellectual property (IP) investment and innovation. In this collaboration, we eagerly anticipate joining forces to develop unique new projects that embody the essence and allure of the original while infusing fresh worth into the brand.
As a devoted fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the potential sequel for Lollipop Chainsaw, but I understand that it might take some time before we see it. Nonetheless, hearing about new projects within the franchise is incredibly thrilling! However, given James Gunn’s current commitments at DC Studios and his focus on blockbuster movies, I don’t foresee him having a role in future Lollipop Chainsaw endeavors. It seems he’s too occupied with grand-scale productions to spare time for a more specialized video game project like ours.
