Okay, let me tell you, SpaceGodzilla is a seriously cool monster in the Godzilla mythos. He’s basically an evil, space-faring clone of Godzilla, and a real threat. The 1994 film kicks off with him destroying a NASA station before heading to Earth, specifically to Baas Island – home to Godzilla and his little one. Things quickly go south when SpaceGodzilla targets Little Godzilla, and even the King of the Monsters can’t handle him at first. It looks bleak for a while, but thankfully, Godzilla rallies and manages to defeat SpaceGodzilla, saving the planet. And yes, Little Godzilla pulls through too! Honestly, it’s a fantastic monster mash and a really fun watch.
As a longtime monster movie fan, I really appreciated this as a solid re-introduction to SpaceGodzilla. He’s always been popular in other media – games, books, comics – but it’s been ages since we’ve seen him truly unleashed on the big screen. With ‘Supernova’ on the horizon, it feels like SpaceGodzilla is getting the same treatment as villains like Mechagodzilla and King Ghidorah – a modern update. And honestly, I’m excited to see how this cosmic Godzilla stacks up against both Kong and Godzilla – it promises to be a real test for our titans.
