Cyberpunk 2077, the first-person role-playing game from CD Projekt RED, has now sold over 35 million copies. The company announced this milestone on Wednesday, noting that sales have increased by five million copies since November 2024. While discussing sales figures for the third quarter of 2025, CD Projekt RED didn’t provide an update on Phantom Liberty, its expansion, which had previously sold 10 million copies as of May.

Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t the first CD Projekt RED game to achieve this level of success. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sold 30 million copies back in April 2021. Since then, The Witcher 3 has continued to thrive, reaching 60 million copies sold by early 2025 – perfectly timed with its 10th anniversary.

CD Projekt RED’s teams are growing

CD Projekt RED provided an update on its current projects. The team developing the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has expanded to 135 developers, up from 96 in May, and they plan to grow to over 300 by 2027, working across studios in Boston, Vancouver, and Warsaw.

The biggest focus remains on the next Witcher game, currently with 447 developers. This game will kick off a new trilogy, featuring Ciri as the main character. A multiplayer Witcher spinoff, Project Sirius, is also in development with 56 developers. A smaller team is beginning work on Hadar, a brand new game idea.

While details on The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk sequel are still to come, Witcher 3 will receive a final update next year with mod support for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Additionally, a new season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners animated series is planned, created in collaboration with Studio Trigger and Netflix.
