Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro update launches April 8

CD Projekt RED has announced that the PlayStation 5 Pro update for Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on April 8th.

Here are the details on what enhancements players can expect:

We aimed to fully utilize the powerful technology of the PlayStation 5 Pro to elevate the Cyberpunk 2077 experience with stunning 4K graphics, improved performance, and more realistic lighting effects. Our goal was to make Night City look its absolute best by combining the capabilities of the hardware with the quality of our game. Now that Cyberpunk 2077 is available through PlayStation Plus, all PlayStation 5 Pro owners can enjoy this enhanced version and immerse themselves in the world of Night City.

This update significantly improves how players experience the game, starting with a technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). PSSR uses advanced AI to enhance each individual pixel, making everything in Night City look incredibly detailed and vibrant – from weapons and characters to cars and the environment.

We’ve improved our ray tracing technology, which is crucial to the look and feel of Cyberpunk 2077. The way Night City transforms from day to night, with its bright neon lights, is a core part of the game’s visual style. The PlayStation 5 Pro Update adds support for BVH8, a more advanced ray tracing method, to enhance lighting, shadows, and reflections, making the game look even closer to our original artistic vision. Picture sunlight glinting off your motorcycle or exploring dark alleys lit by glowing neon signs – the PlayStation 5 Pro significantly increases immersion in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.

With the increased power of the PlayStation 5 Pro, players have more choices for how they want to experience games. We’re offering three different modes to cater to everyone’s preferences. ‘Ray Tracing Pro’ mode maximizes visual quality in games like Cyberpunk 2077, activating all ray tracing features – including reflections, shadows, and lighting effects. In this mode, Cyberpunk 2077 aims for a smooth 40 frames per second on compatible displays, or 30 frames per second on others.

For players who prioritize speed, Performance mode delivers the smoothest possible gameplay with a very high frame rate. When played on a display with VRR, Cyberpunk 2077 can reach up to 90 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 Pro without sacrificing visual quality. If you want a balance between stunning graphics and smooth performance, our Ray Tracing mode is the perfect choice. It offers select ray tracing features while maintaining a consistent 60 frames per second, resulting in overall improvements to the gaming experience.

I’m seriously hyped to finally share this update with all of you on the PlayStation 5 Pro! The Cyberpunk 2077 community has been amazing for the last five years, and I know a lot of you have been waiting for this. It’s also awesome that Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, so hopefully we’ll see a bunch of new players joining us in Night City!

You can now play Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.
