If you’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of the next season for Studio Trigger’s fantastic “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” anime, then you can excitedly plan on including its prequel comic, titled “Madness,” in your library next year.
The upcoming manga, penned by its original screenwriter Bartosz Sztybor and beautifully illustrated by Asano, delves into the past events of beloved characters Rebecca and Pilar. Set to be released on the 24th of February, 2026.
Here’s the official blurb from Dark Horse:
In the bustling metropolis of Night City, where technology, violence, and power reign supreme, Rebecca and her older brother Pilar, both with a shared ambition to emulate their father as legendary edge-runners, navigate their turbulent lives. Their journey is marked by strife, pain, and mayhem, leaving chaos in their wake. As they continue through their daily routines, an enigmatic figure suddenly enters the picture, altering the course of their destiny. This manga, a prequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, follows the chaotic lives of siblings Rebecca and Pilar as they strive to establish themselves as formidable edge-runners in the insanity of Night City.
The manga comes in a paperback format that measures approximately 5.125 inches by 7.25 inches, and it’s possible to pre-order it at certain retailers right now.
In the meantime, a sneak peek comic was unveiled only at the recent Anime Expo, and it’ll also be on sale during San Diego Comic-Con towards the end of the month.
After briefly skimming through some samples of this manga, the artwork seems somewhat minimalistic for our preference, yet we’re excited to dive into a fresh Cyberpunk narrative – all the more so with the upcoming season on the horizon, as we’ve shared before.
