As of September 30th, Yuito Kimura has left his role as an executive director at Cygames, the company revealed.
Kimura and president Koichi Watanabe founded Cygames in 2011. He then worked as a producer on several popular games, including Rage of Bahamut, Granblue Fantasy, Shadowverse, and Princess Connect! Re: Dive. In April 2019, he became an executive director.
According to Cygames’ official statement, Mr. Kimura has been a key figure in the company’s development and success since its beginning, making significant contributions. Cygames stated they respect his choice and expressed deep gratitude for everything he accomplished during his time with the company. More details can be found on their website.
The duties previously handled by Kimura have been distributed among the existing board members. Additionally, a detailed plan is now in place to guarantee business continues to run smoothly moving forward.
In a Twitter message, Kimura explained that existing health problems, while not life-threatening, have made it hard for him to fulfill his responsibilities, prompting his resignation as executive director and producer. He mentioned that he’s already handed over the projects he was managing to reliable coworkers, and he’s optimistic that with enough rest, he’ll be able to fully recover and return to making games in the future. He stated he hopes to return to game production after recovering. He emphasized the importance of taking time to heal.
