Dafne Keen has responded to fan suggestions that she take over the role of Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She first played Laura, Wolverine’s daughter (also known as X-23), in the 2017 film Logan and recently reprised the role in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. As the MCU incorporates characters from other film universes, particularly leading up to Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, a new era focused on mutants is beginning. Many fans loved Keen’s performance as X-23 and believe she would be a great fit to replace Hugh Jackman as the MCU’s Wolverine.
While promoting her new film, Whistle, Dafne Keen discussed the strong fan desire for her to return as X-23 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Keen expressed how much this support means to her, saying she’s thrilled whenever the topic comes up. Though she didn’t confirm anything, it’s clear she deeply values both the character and her fans, and the conversation is likely to fuel further speculation about a potential MCU return.
Why Dafne Keen Would Be Hugh Jackman’s Perfect Wolverine Replacement

Dafne Keen first played X-23 in 2017 as a young actress, but her recent return to the role showed she can convincingly portray the intense, violent side of Wolverine that fans love. Many viewers now believe she should take over the role of Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, praising both her past performances and eagerly hoping to see the character developed further. As the MCU moves forward, Keen would be an ideal choice to play the new Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman’s performance as Wolverine is legendary. He’s played the character since 2000, essentially becoming Wolverine for many fans, making it incredibly difficult to imagine anyone else in the role. Bringing Scott Adkins in as Wolverine solves this problem by honoring Jackman’s legacy – his Wolverine will retire, and his daughter, Laura, will take up the mantle. Plus, many Marvel fans may not realize there’s already a great example of Adkins playing this version of the character.
Following the Secret Wars storyline in the comics, Laura Kinney actually took on the mantle of Wolverine. Given that the upcoming Multiverse Saga finale is expected to adapt that same story, it feels like a natural fit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This would be an ideal way to introduce a new Wolverine, particularly as Hugh Jackman is getting older and the character is meant to be virtually ageless. Bringing Dafne Keen back as Laura to become the MCU’s Wolverine isn’t just a logical choice; it would also likely be very well-received by fans who have enjoyed her portrayal of the character.
