Following the sudden passing of Dallas Cowboys defensive end at just 24 years old, quarterback Dak Prescott shared heartfelt and emotional thoughts about the loss.
The NFL player, who has been with the Texas team since 2016, described November 6th as a very difficult day in an interview with CBS Sports Texas. He expressed deep sadness over a recent loss, saying he was heartbroken for Marshawn Lynch, his family, and his girlfriend, as well as all of his teammates.
It’s a terrible experience, one no one should have to endure,” the 32-year-old said. “None of us want to go through this, and we especially wish Marshawn hadn’t suffered what he did.
Marshawn, a recent draft pick for the Cowboys in 2024, tragically died after what police believe was a suicide. The Frisco Police Department stated his death followed a chase and a large search involving multiple agencies.
The statement also revealed that during the search, officers learned Kneeland had previously talked about suicide.
Dak said the day was very difficult for him emotionally, especially considering the tragedy. He also encouraged everyone to cherish their family and friends.
He told CBS Sports he’s simply grateful for every moment of life, and encourages everyone not to take those moments for granted. He emphasized the importance of showing affection to loved ones.
He acknowledges this is a tough time for everyone and encourages people to accept their feelings, saying, “It’s okay to feel however you’re feeling.”
Marshawn’s siblings—AJ, Shawn, and Yahmya Kneeland—and the rest of his family released a touching statement mourning the loss of the promising NFL player.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Marshawn’s passing and are still struggling with the loss, according to a statement released on November 6th. While he was known for his football career with the Dallas Cowboys, he was even more cherished as a loving family member and friend.

Marshawn Kneeland‘s football career started long before his time at the NFL.
While in high school in Michigan, Marshawn had a standout senior year, making 110 tackles and 8 sacks on defense. He also excelled on offense with 20 catches for 330 yards and 5 touchdowns.

After finishing school, Marshawn went to Western Michigan University and played football for four years, finishing with an impressive 149 tackles and 12.5 sacks.

The athlete was known for his incredible work ethic during his time at school. He consistently spent extra time at the team’s facilities, practicing and studying game films to improve his performance.
According to his coach, David Denham, that’s when he really began to stand out from the rest of the players.

As a lifestyle expert, I remember when Marshawn joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2024 – it was a really exciting moment! Jerry Jones himself told him right then and there, “Marshawn, we’re going to put a star on that helmet,” signaling how much faith they had in him and his potential to become a key player.
The young athlete was determined to savor every part of the experience. He described draft night as a “once in a lifetime opportunity” and said he was simply thrilled to be there.

Marshawn carried his strong work ethic with him when he joined the NFL and began preparing for his rookie season.

As for how he was approaching the NFL, Marshawn just wanted to stick to his game plan.
Oh my gosh, he said it! Right after they drafted him, he promised he’s going to be exactly the player we all know and love! He’s going to be relentlessly physical, super fast, incredibly fit, and just give 110% effort on every single play. He basically said it all comes down to him making those amazing plays – and trust me, he WILL! I just know it!

During his time with the Texas team, the 24-year-old player recorded 26 tackles and one sack in 18 games, four of which he started.

Just days before his death, Marshawn scored his first touchdown in the league.
According to his agent, Jonathan Perzley, Marshawn dedicated himself completely to football, giving his all in every game and practice. Perzley expressed immense grief, saying it’s difficult to describe the pain of losing someone with such talent, positivity, and kindness.
