They were photographed on a brightly lit runway, with enthusiastic crowds, photographers, and performers wearing bold red and purple outfits surrounding them.
Social media users speculated that Damson Idris might be the next actor to play T’Challa, referring to recent appearances as a possible ‘soft launch’ of his casting.
A popular caption referencing T’Challa has quickly gained over 1.5 million views online. Photos of Angela Bassett and Idris Elba, dressed in both suits and traditional clothing while backstage, have also surfaced, leading fans to speculate that Marvel Studios may be hinting at something new.
The conversation started because people have been speculating about who will play Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman’s death, with some suggesting Marvel might recast the role. Reports surfaced that Idris Elba had been in discussions with Marvel, but he previously made a lighthearted comment online about declining several high-profile roles, including James Bond, a film alongside Daniel Day-Lewis, and a biopic about Eddie Murphy.
