Damson Idris Responds to James Bond Casting Rumors at Golden Globes

Damson Idris is used to life in the fast lane.

It’s not surprising that Formula 1 star is now being talked about as a possible James Bond – he even discussed the rumors while attending the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.

Damson clarified to Justin Sylvester on LIVE from TopMob: Golden Globes 2026 that the reports are false and simply rumors, though he appreciates being considered for the roles. He said, “It’s flattering for a young actor to even be mentioned in connection with such great opportunities.”

He’s aware he’s the latest actor that fans are hoping will become the next James Bond, known for famously ordering a ‘shaken, not stirred’ martini.

Damson, wearing a black suit and bow tie, explained that many artists, including his close friend Idris Elba, have paved the way, and many more are successful today. He believes this shows they’re all doing a good job and gaining recognition. (You can see photos of all the stars’ outfits here.)

Although it’s still unclear who will be the next British actor to play the famous super spy, Damson is hopeful about several other upcoming projects and partnerships.

He admitted he’s really impressed with Wunmi Mosaku. He praised her performance in Sinners, calling it superb, and said he’s met her several times and would love to collaborate with her in the future.

Damson has worked with major Hollywood stars, including Brad Pitt in the movie F1, which has been nominated for two Golden Globe awards: Best Score and Best Cinematic & Box Office Achievement.

Damson described the experience as incredibly lucky, but jokingly teased his missing colleague.

The 34-year-old explained that Brad wasn’t present, but he wanted to state directly that he’s a faster Formula One driver.
