Dandadan Returns With an Official New Release Ahead of Season 3

Yukinoobu Tatsu’s manga series Dandadan, which originally appeared on Shonen Jump+ five years ago on April 6th, 2021, has become incredibly popular, especially thanks to its anime adaptation by Science SARU. The anime quickly won over audiences with its unique story, charming characters, and stunning visuals. Though the second season ended last September with a major cliffhanger, fans can look forward to Season 3 in 2027 – which promises to cover what many consider the best storyline of the series.

With the anime on hold, the manga is marking its 5th anniversary with a special announcement: a stage play! This is the first time the series will be adapted for the stage, and the news was revealed on the anniversary date.

Dandadan Creator Shares a Special Message For Fans After The Announcement

A new website is now live with details about the upcoming stage play adaptation. The author, Tatsu, shared a message expressing their surprise and gratitude: “I’m so excited Dandadan is becoming a stage play! This wouldn’t be possible without all of your support. The team working on it is fantastic – please come see the show and experience the world of Dandadan live!”

The announcement also features messages from other team members. Performances will take place in Tokyo in August 2026 and in Osaka in September 2026. We’ll share more details soon.

Dandadan Season 3 Will Adapt The Best Manga Arc So Far

The new season of this anime is taking a bit longer to produce, but fans of the manga already know it’s going to be incredible! The last season ended with a huge cliffhanger – we were left wondering about a mysterious girl and her control over a massive, Godzilla-like robot. Get ready for even more action; things are about to get really intense. Season 2 covered up to chapter 71 of the manga, meaning Season 3 will finish the ‘Kaiju Arc’ (with just two chapters remaining) before moving on to the thrilling ‘Space Globalists Arc’.

The anime has been building up to this for a while, starting with hints dropped during the Cursed House Arc in Season 2. It’s become clear that Momo and her friends are facing a major challenge soon. This upcoming arc, called “Space Globaists,” is the longest one in the manga – covering 47 chapters – and will finally explain the mysteries surrounding a particular girl and the alien being who manipulated the Kito family.

The villains have been secretly planning something big, and it’s up to Momo and her friends to face the ultimate challenge yet again. While we wait for the third season of the anime, you can enjoy the series on Crunchyroll and Netflix. For those interested in the source material, 18 volumes of the manga have been translated and are available for purchase through Viz Media’s website, where you can also read all the chapters online.
