Dandadan Season 3’s Long Wait Will Pay Off With The Manga’s Best Arc

The anime version of Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga, Dandadan, has quickly become a fan favorite thanks to its unique story, charming characters, and stunning visuals. The adaptation, created by Science SARU, is considered one of the best anime currently available, praised for its animation, fast-paced storytelling, voice acting, music, and how well it captures the feeling of the original manga. The first season premiered in Fall 2024, and a second season followed just six months later in Summer 2025—a remarkably quick turnaround for a popular show. Typically, new seasons take a year or more to arrive, but the studio is now taking longer than anticipated to produce Season 3.

At Jump Festa 2026, the anime announced that Season 3 will premiere in 2027, and also unveiled a new key visual. The last season ended with a big cliffhanger, leaving fans eager for more. Given the high quality of the animation, the delay isn’t surprising, and Season 3 promises to be an excellent adaptation. It will even cover what many fans consider to be the best story arc from the original manga.

Dandadan Season 3 Will Be Far More Exciting Than Previous Seasons

Season 2 came out quickly because it was filmed alongside Season 1. However, Season 3 will be much more complex, so the studio needs more time to produce it. Some scenes from the original manga are particularly detailed and require careful adaptation. The current manga storyline ends at chapter 71, meaning the next season will also cover the remaining two chapters of the Kaiju Arc.

Following the conclusion of the Kaiju Arc, the anime will finally start the Space Globalists Arc, which has been hinted at since the Cursed House Arc in Season 2. This arc is the longest one in the manga, meaning it’s unlikely Season 3 will be able to cover it all in just 12 episodes. It’s probable that Season 3 will be split into two parts, or that Seasons 3 and 4 will be released close together, similar to how Seasons 1 and 2 were released. The studio also understands the importance of not leaving fans on a cliffhanger during such a significant storyline.

Season 3 will finally answer the mysteries surrounding Vamola, the girl inside the kaiju costume, and explain her importance to the story. As space terrorists plot to take over Earth, Momo and her friends confront the greatest challenge they’ve ever faced – a threat that seems impossible to defeat. The manga hasn’t shown a danger this huge before, and even a quick look at the source material reveals how much work it will be for the animators to bring it to life in the anime.
