The wonder years never end when you’re a mom—just ask Danica McKellar.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I take pride in sharing a heartwarming moment: this past September 7th, a beloved ‘Wonder Years’ alum celebrated her son Draco’s 15th birthday! Over the years, I’ve watched him grow from a tiny bundle, all the way to a teenager who now towers over my petite 5’4″ stature. The journey has been nothing short of incredible, and I felt compelled to commemorate this milestone by sharing treasured memories of him through photos. It’s truly amazing to see him grow into his own person!

On Instagram, she expressed with delight, “Being your mother for the past 15 years has been an extraordinary pleasure. Witnessing your growth and supporting your success has filled me with joy.

Danica, who co-parents Draco with her former husband Mike Verta, admitted that it’s hard not to feel a tinge of sadness as the years seem to speed by. However, she also pointed out that those earlier days have forged a lasting collection of memories, which serve to bind us together even when we grow up.

As I see you becoming more independent (not to mention taller!), the 50-year-old went on, “my heart swells with pride, knowing we’re still constructing a lasting legacy together.

Laughing, she quipped, “However, you’re still a bit immature – so let’s all send a small wish as we embark on the journey of learning to drive…

And to commemorate each milestone, Danica also takes what she calls “mental snapshots.”

In an interview for ROUTE magazine in 2023, she shared that when one engages in a specific action, it seems as if time stands still for a brief moment, making the experience more profound. Later on, it won’t feel like a puzzling question of ‘What transpired?’ Instead, she explained that the essence of this phenomenon lies in mindfulness – being fully present. As parents, we all grapple with this challenge due to various factors, but I’ve discovered that when I’m more attentive, I can capture those fleeting moments as mental keepsakes.

In fact, Draco will sometimes catch his mom logging these memories in her mind.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but fixate on Draco’s visage, and I imagine him asking, “What are you up to?” To which I respond, “Simply savoring this very instant with you.” I find myself immersed in each fleeting moment.

Danica noted, “He seemed just two years old yesterday, yet I can recall everything in between too – which prevents me from feeling as though I overlooked it or let it slip away.
