Daniel Radcliffe has been associated with the character of Harry Potter for over 25 years. While he hasn’t played the role since the final Harry Potter film in 2011, he’ll always be remembered for bringing the “Boy Who Lived” to life, despite taking on many other roles.
I’ve noticed a lot of people have been asking questions about the Harry Potter films lately, and of course, there’s always plenty of jokes going around! But honestly, the actor has always been so willing to share what it was like filming the movies, and he’s always talked openly about his experiences. I remember seeing him on Late Night With Seth Meyers and he even talked about how he feels about hearing Harry Potter jokes – it was really interesting!
Harry Potter confessed that he doesn’t laugh easily, saying a joke has to be truly funny to get a reaction from him. However, someone on the late-night show staff actually succeeded in making him laugh.
Daniel Radcliffe says he rarely laughs at Harry Potter jokes anymore. He explained it’s not that the jokes are bad, but he’s simply heard them all so many times, and it takes something truly original to make him chuckle.
He added that Seth Meyers had been curious about his son, who he shares with his partner, Erin Darke. However, the actor explained he prefers not to mention his son’s name on television.
Meyers remembered being backstage with his team when the joke came about. He asked how old Daniel’s child was, and they told him two years old, but explained that Daniel doesn’t share the child’s name publicly. Then, his producer, Kevin Miller, jokingly suggested the child’s name might be Voldemort.
Radcliffe replied, “It’s really good. It’s a really good joke.”
Daniel Radcliffe Recently Gave His Seal of Approval for the New Harry Potter Actor
So, ever since they announced they’re rebooting Harry Potter back in April 2023, Daniel Radcliffe has been pretty clear: he’s not going to be involved. He had a fantastic run playing Harry in the original eight movies – from 2001 to 2011 – and honestly, he seems really happy to let a new generation of actors put their own spin on those iconic roles. It’s cool that he’s so supportive!
Recently, it was announced who will play Harry Potter in the new HBO series, which began filming its first season this summer. Young actor Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as the Boy Who Lived. Daniel Radcliffe shared that he reached out to Dominic, writing him a letter, and Dominic responded with a kind note.
Daniel Radcliffe shared that he wrote a note to the young actor wishing him well, saying he hoped the experience would be even better than his own – which he greatly enjoyed. Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley, also offered Alastair Stout similar words of encouragement.
