Daniel Radcliffe Reveals the 1 Thing HBO’s Harry Potter Reboot Will Change For Him [Exclusive]

Daniel Radcliffe says the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series has inspired him to make a big shift in his life. He’s currently starring in a new NBC show called The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, alongside Tracy Morgan, who plays a former football star trying to rebuild his life after a scandal. Radcliffe plays the documentarian hired to tell Morgan’s story – a filmmaker who previously had a somewhat embarrassing stint working for Marvel. Talking about these new projects has motivated Radcliffe to make some positive changes to his lifestyle.

Daniel Radcliffe recently told ComicBook that the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series has made him rethink how he handles interviews. To avoid overshadowing the new, young actors, Radcliffe plans to stop answering questions about Harry Potter for the foreseeable future. He expressed his relief that a new generation will be taking on those questions, and he intends to redirect any related inquiries in a few years.

Daniel Radcliffe Doesn’t Want Fans to Compare the Child Actors

Daniel Radcliffe’s future career moves suggest two key things. He’s understandably ready to move past constant questions about Harry Potter, particularly given the attention surrounding J.K. Rowling, and focus on his current and upcoming projects. But perhaps even more importantly, a new generation of actors has been cast as Harry, Ron, and Hermione, allowing him to fully step away from those iconic roles.

Daniel Radcliffe has asked fans and the media to give the new young actors in the Harry Potter series space to create their own identities and interpretations of the characters. He wants them to avoid being constantly compared to him, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, and to have the freedom to build their own legacies without living in the shadow of the original cast. As Radcliffe put it, he doesn’t want to be a constant presence or reminder of the past for these young performers.

When asked about his career and his role as Arthur Robin in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, Daniel Radcliffe was also questioned about potentially appearing in a Marvel movie. He said he’d be happy to play a superhero if the script was strong. However, he wouldn’t want to play Wolverine, as he doesn’t want to follow in Hugh Jackman’s footsteps. Despite starring in the Harry Potter franchise, he still enjoys being part of large-scale film series.

Radcliffe explained that the financial security he gained at a young age allowed him to pursue any projects he desired. He noted that many actors take on major franchise roles to achieve that same freedom, something he had thanks to his role as Harry Potter. He praised those who create excellent work within those large-scale projects, calling it a significant accomplishment. While he’d be open to joining another franchise in the future, he doesn’t plan to do so in the near future.
