Danielle Fishel’s little boy wasn’t a fan of his mom’s dedication to her salsa routine.
Danielle Fishel, known from Boy Meets World, shared a heartbreaking story about her time on Dancing with the Stars. Her 6-year-old son, Adler Lawrence, mistakenly told his teacher that she had passed away. Adler shares a father, Jensen Karp, with Fishel.
Danielle, 44, shared on her Pod Meets World podcast that she received a call from Adler’s teacher. The teacher explained that Adler was having some difficulty getting started with his schoolwork. When asked what was wrong, Adler told them that his mother had passed away.
However, Adler’s surprising revelations didn’t stop there. He also admitted he was very worried about his father, who had recently lost his job after making several errors while entering data into a computer.
Rowan Blanchard, known for her role in Girl Meets World, confirmed that rumors circulating about her were false. However, her son’s teacher was more worried about a recent hoax claiming Danielle, Rowan’s dance partner, had passed away. This was especially concerning because Rowan and Pasha Pashkov were still competing on Dancing with the Stars until they were eliminated on November 4th.
Danielle explained that the teacher encouraged the student to elaborate, not wanting to interrupt his thought process. He continued speaking, but eventually acknowledged a point might not be accurate and changed the subject.
Danielle was stunned to learn this, especially since her father, Rick Fishel, had told her that Adler and his four-year-old brother, Keaton Joseph, were doing well after she left for the competition in Los Angeles earlier this year. It wasn’t until she picked up her oldest son from school, though, that she understood how her being away was impacting him.
She remembered Adler getting very upset and crying, exclaiming, ‘I hate this job! Why did you even take it? All you ever do is dance, dance, dance, dance!’ He was also upset that she didn’t have time to spend with him and their son, Keaton, anymore. He demanded she quit and asked directly if she would.
Danielle explained that she had told him their current work arrangement wouldn’t last past Thanksgiving, and he reacted by angrily retreating to his room. They eventually had a calm conversation about it, but she acknowledged they’re still figuring out how to handle his frustration when she’s not around.
Now that the former host of Dish has finished competing on the dance show, she can focus on reconnecting with her children and put the experience behind her.

Okay, seriously, when Danielle talked about leaving the show on the podcast? I almost lost it! She was SO sweet. She said she felt everything, but then immediately said it couldn’t have gone better. And the best part? She kept saying how unbelievably lucky she was to have been paired with Pasha! It was just… perfect. I’m telling you, their connection was magical, and she knew it. I’m obsessed with them both!
She shared that she felt really good about everything they had accomplished, describing each week as a memorable and special experience she’d cherish always.
