The popular comedy show Mock the Week, which was cancelled by the BBC a little over three years ago, is making a comeback on TLC. And a well-known host will be leading the show!
He continued, saying, “You’re overthinking it.” He explained that he didn’t worry about how any new material might affect the show’s reputation. “It’s really just seven people getting together to tell jokes.”
The show will feature Ó Briain along with a rotating cast of guest comedians like Ahir Shah, Angela Barnes, Ed Byrne, Ellie Taylor, Hugh Dennis, Katherine Ryan, Lou Sanders, Rhys James, Russell Howard, and Sara Pascoe—and keep an eye out for some new faces too! Episodes will now be longer, running for a full hour.

Ó Briain explains that the show doesn’t have any unexpected musical numbers or sudden nudity. He doesn’t anticipate anything being particularly shocking, just a bit more of what viewers have already seen.
We filmed two and a half hours of footage, which was then edited down to a 28-minute program for the BBC. There are plans for future installments, but we’re aiming to keep the format consistent – essentially, it’s still just us having a conversation. That’s really what the show is all about.
He wonders what the current topics of conversation will be, noting that things have become increasingly absurd over time. The biggest shift, he says, is that the government is no longer Conservative. “We used to be accused of always talking about the Tories,” he explains, “but that’s because they were the ones making decisions! Now, the focus will be on Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves – not because we’re off the BBC, but simply because they’re the ones in charge now.”
