Daredevil: Born Again Season 2’s Cast has 15 New & Returning Marvel Characters

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s effort to reintroduce characters from the popular Marvel Netflix series. It’s surprising to remember that Marvel movies used to rarely mention these TV shows. Charlie Cox has already successfully returned as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as the Punisher in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

While the potential for team-ups is fun, the biggest news is the return of the excellent Daredevil: Born Again. Marvel wasn’t initially certain about continuing the show’s story, but they made the right call. Season 2 really leans into that decision, bringing back a whopping 15 characters – both new and familiar – from across the Marvel and Marvel Netflix worlds.

15. Charlie Cox as Daredevil

Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock, a role he’s powerfully embodied since 2015. He brilliantly portrays both Murdock’s intelligence and confidence, and the fierce intensity of Daredevil. This time, however, he’s facing his biggest challenges yet, as Kingpin is now the mayor of New York and all vigilante activity is illegal.

14. Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin

Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, has become a significant character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following Charlie Cox’s return as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Kingpin reappeared in the Hawkeye series. The Echo miniseries then showed him planning a run for mayor, suggesting he’s embracing his more ruthless side after struggling with his violent tendencies throughout the first season.

13. Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones

Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, won’t be fighting Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, by himself this time. He’ll be teaming up with Jessica Jones, another hero from the Marvel Netflix series and a former member of the Defenders. Jessica, a super-powered private investigator known for her tough personality, is returning to help bring down Kingpin. Previously, she had chosen to stay in New York and grow her detective agency, Alias Investigations, and was notably one of the most well-respected vigilantes in the city.

12. Wilson Bethel as Bullseye

Wilson Bethel first played the assassin Bullseye in Season 3 of the Marvel Netflix series Daredevil, and he brought the character back to life in Season 1 of Daredevil: Brand New Day. In that season, Bullseye killed Foggy Nelson and then fought Daredevil in a fierce battle. He’s set to return in Season 2, and will likely be a more prominent character.

11. Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page

Deborah Ann Woll’s character, Karen Page, was a key player in the original Marvel Netflix series and Matt Murdock’s main love interest. Initially, Marvel didn’t plan to include her in the show’s revival, but they thankfully changed their minds. Karen had a small role in the first season, mainly by contacting the Punisher to help Matt. She anticipated a much larger role in the second season.

10. Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson

Elden Henson’s character, Foggy Nelson, was a key part of the original Marvel Netflix series, but it looked like his story ended quickly in the new Daredevil: Born Again. Although it appeared Foggy died because of Bullseye, Henson will be back for Season 2. It’s unclear how this will happen – it could be through flashbacks, a return from the dead, or some other unexpected twist, as Foggy once pretended to die in a comic book storyline.

9. Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk

Ayelet Zurer is a talented Israeli actress who has appeared in many films, including Munich, Vantage Point, Fugitive Pieces, and Adam Resurrected. She’s also well-known for playing Vanessa, the wife of the villain Wilson Fisk (Kingpin), in the Marvel Netflix series and its follow-up, Born Again. The character of Vanessa is surprisingly formidable, proving to be as ruthless as Kingpin himself – she’s even managed his criminal operations and was responsible for a deadly attack on Foggy Nelson.

8. Toby Leonard Moore as James Wesley

Toby Leonard Moore played James Wesley, a key figure in the first season of Daredevil as Kingpin’s closest aide. Wesley served as a dark reflection of the main hero, Matt Murdock – he was a lawyer who represented what Matt could have become if he hadn’t had a strong moral compass. After crossing Karen Page, Wesley was killed, but Moore is coming back for Season 2 of Born Again, likely appearing in scenes set in the past.

7. Royce Johnson as Det. Sgt. Brett Mahoney

Brett Mahoney, played by Royce Johnson, was a good police officer who appeared in several Marvel Netflix shows, assisting Daredevil and even encountering the Punisher. He’s returning in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, and will likely be upset by the criminal activity happening under Kingpin’s control. Johnson is also known for his roles in shows like The Blacklist, House of Payne, and The Snare.

6. Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles

Matthew Lillard, known for his roles in horror films like Scream 7 and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, is taking on a new challenge in Season 2 of Born Again. He’ll be playing Mr. Charles, a CIA agent who goes head-to-head with the Kingpin. Interestingly, the character’s name might be a nod to Marvel Comics, where a Mr. Charles secretly worked for the shady Roxxon Corporation.

5. Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn

Margarita Levieva plays Heather Glenn, who was first seen in Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again as a potential love interest for Matt Murdock. Heather is a marriage counselor who became involved with the Fisk family and now works for Kingpin. Levieva is also known for her roles in shows like Task, Litvinenko, and The Deuce, and she previously appeared in the Star Wars series The Acolyte before it was cancelled, demonstrating her experience in action-packed projects.

4. Lili Taylor as Governor Marge McCaffrey

Lili Taylor is a well-known American actress who started her career with the 1988 film Mystic Pizza. More recently, she’s appeared in popular movies and shows like Public Enemies and Poker Face. She’s joining Season 2 as Governor Marge McCaffrey, a political opponent of the Kingpin, a character who doesn’t have a direct counterpart in the original comic books.

3. Michael Gandoffini as Daniel Blake

Michael Gandolfini is an American actor who has appeared in films like The Many Saints of Newark, Warfare, and Bob Marley: One Love. He’s now playing Daniel Blake, a devoted fan of the Kingpin, in the Daredevil: Born Again series. Blake showed hints of a darker side in the first season, and viewers are eager to see if he’ll become fully corrupted as the story unfolds.

2. Genneya Walton as BB Urich

BB Urich, a determined journalist, is continuing the work of her uncle, Ben Urich, who was killed by Kingpin in the first season of Daredevil. In the show’s second season, she risks becoming entangled in Kingpin’s dangerous schemes. The role is portrayed by Genneya Walton, a Californian actress known for her work in Never Have I Ever, BlackAF, and 9-1-1*.

1. Camila Rodriguez as Angela Del Toro

I’m so excited to see Camila Rodriguez return as Angela Del Toro! For those who don’t know, Angela is the niece of the White Tiger, and in the comics, she actually becomes a superhero herself with the White Tiger amulet. I’m really hoping that happens in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again – it would be amazing! You might also remember Camila from shows like Station 19, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, and Extended Family. She’s fantastic, and I can’t wait to see what she does with this role.
