Bullseye steps back into the spotlight with a brand-new look.
Daredevil: Born Again is a new series on Disney+ starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the hero also known as Daredevil. The show picks up several years after the original Daredevil series on Netflix, and follows Matt as he’s pulled back into fighting crime after trying to leave that life behind.
Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye in the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again, recently shared a first look at his character’s costume. Production is currently underway in New York City, and fans online are already buzzing with excitement about the new outfit.
The actor recently posted a short video on Instagram offering a sneak peek at the set of Daredevil: Born Again. The video highlighted details of the new costume for Benjamin Leonard “Dex” Poindexter, specifically showing off the armor on his arm and hand, including a bullseye logo. This immediately led fans to believe Marvel Studios is finally introducing a Bullseye character that looks more like his comic book counterpart – something many have been hoping for.
Bethel’s Bullseye debuted in season 3 of Netflix’s Daredevil as an FBI agent with mental health issues. Throughout the season, he pretended to be Daredevil, even wearing a black version of the hero’s suit, hoping to ruin Daredevil’s reputation. Many viewers and critics considered his portrayal of the Marvel villain to be a standout performance, praising its intensity.
I noticed a big difference in the villain’s outfit when Daredevil: Born Again started compared to how he looked in the original series. The Disney+ version seemed to try harder to match the comics, which I appreciated. But honestly, a lot of fans, myself included, didn’t think the costume quite captured the character. However, a recent post from the actor, Bethel, has given me hope that the costume will be much closer to what we’ve always pictured when we see him again. It feels like they’re really listening to what comic book fans want!
Bullseye, the skilled assassin, was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist John Romita Sr. He first appeared in 1976 in Daredevil #131 as one of Daredevil’s most formidable foes. What makes Bullseye dangerous is his uncanny accuracy and ability to weaponize almost anything, even though he doesn’t have any superpowers. Over the years, he’s been featured in many comics and even starred in three limited series: Bullseye: Greatest Hits (2005) by Daniel Way and Steve Dillon, Bullseye: Perfect Game (2011) by Charlie Huston and Lan Medina, and Bullseye (2017) by Ed Brisson and Guillermo Sanna.
Daredevil Born Again seasons 1 and 2 are now available to stream on Disney+.
