This week’s major reveal on Daredevil: Born Again hints at the possible return of a popular character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first season of the Disney+ series has brought back several familiar faces from the old Netflix Marvel shows, including The Punisher and Bullseye. While Kingpin has already reappeared in Hawkeye and Echo and is a central villain, the season has also confirmed Jessica Jones will be joining the MCU from Netflix. Interestingly, another character from Hawkeye, the Swordsman, briefly appeared last season after being arrested for vigilantism.
Okay, so I just watched the latest Daredevil: Born Again, and let me tell you, a recent development has got me seriously hoping we’ll see a fantastic character who’s been missing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for way too long make a comeback. It’s a really exciting possibility, and I’m already speculating about how it could happen!
Swordsman Should Lead to Kate Bishop’s Return

In recent episodes, Daredevil and Karen Page stopped hiding from the task force and decided to directly confront Kingpin’s forces. This shift began when Karen captured a task force member for questioning. Through the interrogation, they discovered that not everyone involved was corrupt – a resistance movement was working from within. This insider provided Daredevil with the key needed to access the location where captured vigilantes were being held.
This mirrored the unfair trial Swordsman faced, which revealed Wilson Fisk had corrupted the justice system. The trials were rigged, with all vigilantes convicted regardless of evidence. Swordsman was the first to be tried and found guilty. This prompted Daredevil to discover where the vigilantes were imprisoned and orchestrate a breakout, recovering Swordsman’s sword and helping everyone escape.
Jack Duquesne, also known as Swordsman, was once engaged to Eleanor Bishop, Kate Bishop’s mother. While Eleanor was arrested at the end of the Disney+ series Hawkeye, Jack disappeared. Kate hasn’t been seen in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe since The Marvels, when Kamala Khan tried to recruit her for a team. Though Kate and Ironheart appeared in an episode of What If…?, she’s been absent from recent storylines. This raises the question of whether Jack might now look for Kate, especially knowing that Wilson Fisk could be a threat to her as well.
Okay, so there’s a chance we might see her sometime this season, but forget about a Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 appearance – that’s not happening. They filmed that season from February to July of 2025, and a lot happened with Hailee Steinfeld that year! She got married to Josh Allen in May, and then announced she was pregnant in December. She just had her baby this month, which unfortunately means she won’t be back for Daredevil: Born Again, or even Avengers: Doomsday it seems. I’m still holding out hope for a small cameo this season, though – you never know!
What Heroes Should Be Involved in War With Wilson Fisk?

While it’d be exciting to see major Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes team up in the upcoming fight against Wilson Fisk, it’s unlikely to happen. The showrunner for Daredevil: Born Again has stated they didn’t have access to most of the big movie characters. However, they could use characters originating from other Disney+ shows. While someone like Kamala Khan is a maybe, since she’s appeared in both Disney+ and MCU films, expect to see more minor characters like Echo, along with newer faces like White Tiger 2 and Swordsman.
This season will likely feature major appearances similar to Jessica Jones. Mike Colter has suggested Luke Cage might return, which fits well with the comics where he became Mayor of New York and defeated Wilson Fisk. It would also be great to see Finn Jones get a chance to improve his portrayal of Iron Fist, and to bring back supporting characters like Night Nurse (Rosario Dawson), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), effectively wrapping up the storylines from the old Netflix shows into Daredevil: Born Again.
