Daredevil: Born Again Will Become More ‘Street Level’ After Season 2

According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again will focus less on large-scale political plots and more on gritty, street-level action, similar to earlier seasons.

The second season of Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again will begin streaming on Disney+ next month. Continuing the story from the original Netflix series, it brings back Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin.

Season 2 follows Mayor Wilson Fisk as he tightens his grip on New York City while relentlessly pursuing Daredevil, the vigilante of Hell’s Kitchen. Meanwhile, Matt Murdock, hidden behind the mask, will struggle to fight back from the darkness and dismantle Fisk’s criminal empire, hoping to save his city. The season’s motto: resist, rebel, and rebuild.

What is the Daredevil: Born Again update?

In an interview with SFX Magazine, Scardapane admitted he has complicated feelings about the new Marvel show’s political themes and how they reflect current events, particularly in relation to the storyline of Born Again.

He noted that Stan Lee’s goal was to create comics that mirrored real life. He also added that the appeal of the superhero genre – and working with these characters – lies in exploring larger-than-life figures and classic mythological themes, which makes for compelling storytelling.

Scardapane explained that while exploring the political side of things – particularly New York politics and the behind-the-scenes drama – was enjoyable, the show is moving back towards the darker, more grounded stories inspired by classic Frank Miller comics. As the storyline with Mayor Fisk concludes in season 2, the future of the show will focus more on street-level action and less on topical political themes. He personally prefers this approach.

Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on March 24, 2026.
