Dave Franco will always see support in James Franco.

I was so excited to hear Jonah Hill talk about his brother, Jordan Feldstein! It’s rare to get a peek into their relationship, and he shared some really sweet thoughts about what Jordan thinks of all of Jonah’s success this year. It’s just heartwarming to see them support each other.

Dave recently told Bustle that he believes his partner is happy to see him pursuing new interests and developing as a person.

Despite a successful year with roles in four films and an Emmy nomination for his work on The Studio – which allowed him to reconnect with James’ old friend, Seth Rogen – the 40-year-old admitted he used to be overshadowed by his brother’s fame.

Although Seth Rogen helped Dave connect with an agent and start his career, Dave still had to work hard to become successful in the industry.

I knew I wouldn’t get any opportunities simply because of my brother, James Franco,” the actor said. “If I wasn’t good at what I did, my career would have ended fast.

Dave, who married Alison Brie in 2017, began his film career in 2007 with After Sex. He’s since worked with James, 47, on several films, including Milk, The Disaster Artist, and Zeroville.

James’ career suffered after five people, including four former students, accused him of sexual misconduct in 2018. In 2021, he settled a lawsuit brought by two of his former students for $2.2 million. James had co-founded the acting and filmmaking school Studio 4 in 2014, but it closed in 2017.

After reaching a settlement, he openly admitted what he’d done. In an interview on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show that December, he stated, “I admit I slept with students.”

He clarified that he hadn’t had relationships with students in any single class, but admitted he had had them with students during his career, and acknowledged that was wrong. He emphasized that those relationships weren’t the reason he founded the school.

“I wasn’t the person that selected the people to be in the class,” he emphasized. “So it wasn’t a master plan on my part. But yes, there were certain instances where I was in a consensual thing with a student and I shouldn’t have been.”

He initially thought the interaction was acceptable because it seemed like both people agreed, but he now understands there was an imbalance of power between them.

Years later, the 127 Days actor has come to terms with his fall from grace.

Hearing negative feedback hurts, he shared with Variety in October 2024, but it was actually what he needed to change his direction.

He explained that he needed to completely overhaul his life. He felt good about the work he did during that period, even though it wasn’t in film. It was all about personal growth and becoming a different person.
