David Beckham Addresses Kids’ Social Media Mistakes Amid Brooklyn Feud

Life is carrying on for David Beckham. 

Only a day after their son, Brooklyn Beckham, publicly shared details about a family disagreement online, David Beckham appeared at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. During the event on January 20th, David spoke about the impact of the internet, in what seemed to be a response to his son’s recent revelations.

Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box, the father of Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, discussed the impact of social media, both positive and negative. He highlighted the dangers of what children can easily find online today.

I’ve found that using my public profile responsibly is really important, especially when it comes to my children. I’ve been able to partner with UNICEF and raise awareness globally about issues affecting children, and I always try to use my influence for good.

I’ve always tried to raise my children by letting them learn from their own experiences. Everyone makes mistakes, and that’s especially true for kids – it’s how they grow. I try to teach my children this, but sometimes you just have to step back and allow them to make those mistakes on their own.

Elsewhere at the event, the soccer star was asked directly about Brooklyn’s statement by Sky News.

Brooklyn has accused his parents of consistently trying to sabotage his relationship with Nicola, and of refusing to discuss the issues privately. He also claims Victoria and David have repeatedly attacked them in the media.

Honestly, it’s heartbreaking to hear Brooklyn share that his parents apparently voiced concerns before his wedding to Nicola, suggesting she wasn’t truly family. He also said they interfered with a really special moment – his first dance with Nicola – which is just incredibly upsetting. It sounds like a really difficult situation for everyone involved.

In a video published by the news outlet, correspondent Paul Kelso asked David, “Do you have a message for Brooklyn this morning?” He followed up by asking if David was upset about family matters being discussed publicly.

But the 50-year-old did not respond to the line of questioning as he walked across the event floor.

Brooklyn Beckham, age 26, has finally spoken out about the rumors of a disagreement between himself, his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham, and his parents. This is the first time he’s publicly addressed the situation directly, sharing a lengthy statement on Instagram.

As someone who usually values privacy, it’s been really difficult for me to stay quiet for so long. I’ve tried to handle things privately for years, but unfortunately, my parents and their representatives keep going to the media. It’s gotten to the point where I feel I have to set the record straight and address some of the untrue things that have been published. I’m finally speaking up to share my side of the story.

Brooklyn made it clear he has no interest in making peace with his family. He explained, “I’m finally standing up for myself and won’t be controlled anymore, so reconciliation isn’t something I want.”

Brooklyn has accused his parents of consistently trying to sabotage his relationship with Nicola. He also claims they’ve refused to address the issues privately and have instead launched a series of negative statements in the media.

Brooklyn alleged that his parents told him before his 2022 wedding that Nicola wasn’t considered family and that Victoria interfered with their first dance as a married couple.

Brooklyn shared that during his wedding reception, with 500 guests watching, Marc Anthony invited him onstage. Instead of having his first dance with his wife as planned, his mother was there waiting to dance with him instead.

Brooklyn felt deeply embarrassed and uncomfortable by the dancing, even describing it as humiliating. He specifically recalled his mother dancing with him in a way he felt was inappropriate and publicly embarrassing.

While there was no official requirement, many people expected Nicola Peltz Beckham to wear a dress designed by her future mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, at her wedding to Brooklyn Beckham. The wedding took place in April 2022 at the Peltz family estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

Nicola kept quiet about the issue for months, but eventually confirmed there wasn’t a problem with the dress. She did admit she was a little upset that she couldn’t wear a custom Victoria Beckham design.

I was genuinely excited and fully intended to wear the dress she designed! But a few months later, she let me know her workshop wasn’t able to actually make it happen, so I had to find something else. It wasn’t a case of her telling me I couldn’t wear it, or me saying I didn’t want to. That’s all it was, and then the story just kind of took off from there, becoming something bigger than it was.

Brooklyn said she’s realized people will always try to be negative or bring others down. However, she’s happy to report that everyone on the team gets along well.

Speaking to Grazia the following month, Nicola called the Beckhams “great in-laws.”

Victoria, who rarely addresses gossip, finally described the Peltz-Beckham wedding as “beautiful.”

“Seeing my son so happy is incredibly rewarding,” she shared on TODAY that October. “You can’t ask for anything more than that.”

Tom Cruise and all four of Victoria Beckham’s former Spice Girls bandmates attended her lavish 50th birthday party on April 20, 2024, though her daughter-in-law was unable to make it.

Nicola shared on Instagram that she was visiting her grandmother, who sadly passed away less than a month later.

Nicola couldn’t make it to Victoria Beckham’s birthday party, so she shared a message on Instagram saying, “Happy birthday to my beautiful mother-in-law! I’m so sad I can’t be there to celebrate with you and give you a hug. Sending all my love from me and my nanny. I miss you all so much!” She had also wished Victoria a happy birthday on April 17th, posting a photo of them together and writing, “I love you so much and love being your dance partner forever.”

Naunni’s death deeply affected Nicola, and many others shared their grief. Brooklyn posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, remembering Naunni’s joyful spirit and ability to bring laughter to everyone around her. They expressed missing her dearly and loving her forever, and sadly acknowledged that their future children wouldn’t have the chance to know her. Brooklyn described Naunni as a truly unique and irreplaceable person, missed every single day.

In a June 2024 interview with InStyle, Brooklyn reflected on his upbringing – growing up with a famous footballer father and a Spice Girl mother – and said he felt “so happy.”

He admitted things were busy, but said he had amazing parents and really enjoyed himself.

Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz spent some of the 2024 holidays with Nicola’s family, and photos shared by David and Victoria Beckham showed the entire Beckham family enjoying time together in the present moment, proving any past disagreements are behind them.

Victoria shared a series of photos and a heartfelt message expressing her joy at spending the holidays with her family, writing, ‘Being together for the holidays makes me so happy. I love you all so much!’ She also tagged each of her children and her daughter-in-law in the post.

It’s unclear why, but Brooklyn and Nicola weren’t in any of the photos his parents shared from the party celebrating David’s 50th birthday in London in May 2025.

According to a source at TopMob News, the couple traveled to England, choosing to miss the Met Gala on May 5th, because they wanted to visit David and celebrate his birthday with him that week or weekend.

According to a source who spoke with People magazine, Brooklyn Beckham decided against going to David’s party because he didn’t want to encounter his brother Romeo’s girlfriend at the time, DJ Kim Turnbull. Turnbull had been attending more and more family events, like the Victoria Beckham show during Paris Fashion Week in March 2025, ever since Romeo and she began dating publicly in November 2024.

When someone on Instagram wondered why Brooklyn Beckham missed his dad’s party, seemingly to be with Kim, Brooklyn’s younger brother, Cruz Beckham, responded by clarifying, “Brooklyn and Kim never dated.”

When accusations arise, those accused usually hire lawyers. The recent story about Nicola crying at her wedding three years ago might be a sign of further issues to come.

After reports surfaced that Brooklyn and Nicola had hired a lawyer who previously worked with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a source confirmed to TopMob News that the couple do have legal representation, but it isn’t to handle their public image or reputation.

Instead, they’ve brought in Jenny Afi, a lawyer from the U.K. firm Schillings, to correct inaccuracies and fight the spread of false information.

Although the law firm represents the Sussexes – and their 2018 wedding included David and Victoria Beckham among the guests – a source confirmed there’s no link between this situation and Meghan and Harry. The source emphasized that Schillings is a well-regarded firm that works with many different clients.

The source pointed out that this situation itself proved the value of having a lawyer – to correct false information and ensure the truth is known.

David received a knighthood in November 2025, but Brooklyn and Nicola didn’t say anything publicly about it. They also weren’t at the MLS Cup final in December 2025 when David’s team, Inter Miami CF, won—only Victoria, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper were there to celebrate.

In late December 2025, after people realized David and Victoria Beckham weren’t following Brooklyn on Instagram, their son Cruz quickly dismissed rumors that his parents had blocked him on social media.

He denied the claims on Instagram Stories, stating, “My parents would never unfollow me.” He clarified that his parents and he were all blocked on the platform, and that’s what people were seeing.

Brooklyn Beckham chose to spend Christmas 2025 with his wife Nicola’s family, including her parents Claudia Heffner Peltz and Nelson Peltz, rather than join his own family. His younger brother, Cruz, stayed home with their parents for the holidays.

David recently shared a look back at 2025, posting photos with family and friends. Notably absent from the pictures were his oldest son and Nicola, Brooklyn’s wife, fueling speculation about a strained relationship within the family.

An hour later, David posted old photos of himself with each of his and Victoria’s children. He captioned a black-and-white picture with Brooklyn, simply writing, “I love you all so much.”

In January 2026, Brooklyn posted a detailed message on Instagram explaining his difficult relationship with his family.

He stated he doesn’t want to make amends with his family. He explained that he’s asserting his independence and finally prioritizing his own needs, something he hasn’t done before.

In a recent post, Brooklyn accused his parents of manipulating the media to shape the public’s perception of their family. He also claimed they prioritize the “Beckham brand” over everything else and have actively attempted to sabotage his relationship with Nicola.

He mentioned he’s always struggled with anxiety, but since creating distance from his family, he’s experienced a sense of calm and relief.
