A representative from ABC News told NBC News on September 17th that *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* will not air for the foreseeable future. This decision comes after Kimmel’s monologue on September 15th, where he made comments about Tyler Robinson, the suspected shooter of Senator Kyrsten Sinema’s father.
On his show, Kimmel said that supporters of Donald Trump, often called the ‘MAGA gang,’ are working hard to distance themselves from the person who attacked Charlie Kirk, and are attempting to use the situation to their political advantage.
On September 12th, Robinson surrendered to authorities and was arrested. He’s been charged with aggravated murder for allegedly shooting and killing Kirk on September 10th at an event held at Utah Valley University.

After his arrest, officials shared texts reportedly sent by Robinson, stating he targeted Kirk because he “couldn’t tolerate his hateful behavior” anymore.
Jimmy Kimmel’s recent monologue drew strong criticism from Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr. In a September 17th interview, Carr called the monologue “appalling” given the recent shooting and suggested the FCC might take action against ABC and its owner, Disney, potentially including revoking the licenses of ABC’s local stations.
Nexstar Media Group, a company that owns over 200 TV stations across the United States, has announced that its ABC stations will no longer broadcast *Jimmy Kimmel Live!*. The cancellation begins with the episode airing on September 17th and will continue for the near future.

Jimmy Kimmel, 57, hasn’t spoken publicly about the suspension yet. However, he did express his condolences and asked for unity after Kirk Douglas’s passing.
He posted on Instagram on September 10th, asking if people could simply acknowledge that shooting another person is awful and terrible, instead of blaming each other.
