The tension between Eddie Murphy and David Spade was once no laughing matter.
David made a joke on Saturday Night Live about Eddie’s movie Vampire in Brooklyn not doing well in theaters, and Eddie later shared that this caused a significant falling out between them.
David recently shared on the Fly on the Wall podcast with Dana Carvey how strange it was to go from being a huge fan of someone to suddenly having that person dislike him. He explained that early in his time on SNL‘s Weekend Update, he made a joke at this person’s expense, and it didn’t land well. The person then called him, and they had a heated conversation.
The actor, known from Tommy Boy, explained that Eddie was the one who truly said what he was thinking during their talk.
David admitted he didn’t argue much. He felt a bit bad about the situation, and while the other person had a point, David disliked it because that person was someone he admired.
During the ‘Weekend Update’ segment of the show in 1995, David made a humorous comment about the movie Vampire in Brooklyn, jokingly referring to a former classmate as “a falling star. Make a wish.”
As Eddie explained in his recent Netflix documentary, Being Eddie, his issue wasn’t really with David personally, but with the show as a whole.
Eddie said in a documentary, according to USA Today, that he felt personally wounded by the situation, comparing it to being criticized by your former school.
He explained that the joke had spread through all the necessary avenues. He then asked, “Is that how you all see me?” and continued, “That’s why I stayed away for so long.”
However, that’s now all water under the bridge.
Okay, so listen, that whole thing with SNL? That was ages ago, like, 35 years! Honestly, I didn’t even have a problem with David Spade, not anymore. When I hosted in 2019, it was perfect. It was like, ‘Let me go back and just make everything right,’ and I totally did. It felt so good to squash all that old stuff and just have a great time on the show again. I was so relieved it all worked out!

David said they’re doing well and are on good terms, having recently seen each other at the SNL 50th anniversary celebration.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I nearly died when I heard this! David was on the Fly on the Wall podcast and he said he’s actually met him – like, a couple of times! But the best part? They ran into each other at the 50th and actually talked! David said everything was totally cool, and when someone asked him about it later, he confirmed it – they’re good! I’m seriously living for this. It’s just…everything is good, you guys! Everything!
Eddie and David have resolved their differences, but many other celebrities are still holding grudges. Here’s a look at some ongoing celebrity feuds…

In January 2024, Bobby (the second person from the left in the picture) spoke about rumors of a disagreement with Tan (in the middle). This came two months after Bobby announced he was leaving Queer Eye after being on the show for eight seasons.
He told Vanity Fair that he and Tan are doing okay. He explained they went through a personal issue, but it’s separate from their work on the show and wasn’t a romantic matter. He wanted to make that clear.
In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.
Netflix and the production team held extensive auditions. I didn’t recommend my friend for the role, but they ultimately landed it because they were the most qualified. I also want to be clear that I didn’t help them get the job by having anyone else removed from consideration, as he explained in an Instagram post.

I was honestly shocked when Sharon Osbourne shared a story on TopMob News back in September 2023! She was playing ‘Stir the Pot’ with her daughter, Kelly, and she revealed that Ashton Kutcher was the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She didn’t hold back, calling him a “rude, rude, rude, rude little boy” and even a “dastardly little thing!” It was a pretty strong statement, and I couldn’t believe she felt that way after all these years.
He did not respond to her remarks publicly.
Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed upset during his 2014 appearance on The Talk because she had misspoken his name.
She remembered him asking, “Who are you and what have you accomplished in this business?” Her response was blunt: “Listen, don’t mess with me, because I’ll completely destroy you.” She finished by saying, “You have no idea who you’re talking to.”

As a lifestyle expert, I remember when things got pretty heated online back in August 2022. Country singers Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris publicly disagreed with Brittany Aldean, Jason Aldean’s wife, after she posted a video on Instagram. In the video, she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine things, and expressed her love for a traditionally feminine lifestyle. It sparked a lot of conversation, to say the least!

In a 2022 TikTok trend, JoJo Siwa called Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’d met, explaining that Bure once turned down her request for a photo on the red carpet. Soon after, Bure apologized publicly, saying she regretted hurting Siwa’s feelings when she was younger and was truly sorry for not taking the picture.
Okay, so thankfully, Candace and I patched things up! But then she got asked about whether Great American Family – where she’s in charge of all the creative stuff, can you believe it?! – will ever have same-sex couples as the main characters in their Christmas movies. And honestly, it broke my heart a little when she said no. She actually said they’re going to stick with ‘traditional marriage’ as the focus. I just… I don’t understand. It’s like she’s deliberately excluding people, and it’s so disappointing after everything!
JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, responded to the actress’ comment on Instagram, calling it “rude and hurtful to the entire LGBTQ+ community.”

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art for her band Hole in a promotional photo without giving credit. Olivia simply responded with a message of support, saying, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, thanking Olivia and offering to share the contact information for her favorite florist in London if Olivia messaged her privately.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what I just read! Apparently, on Watch What Happens Live, they asked Henry Winkler – yes, the Fonzie! – why he and Tom Hanks didn’t exactly click while filming Turner & Hooch back in ’89. I mean, Turner & Hooch is a classic, and those two are legends! It’s just so wild to think they didn’t get along on set! I need to know everything!
I directed the movie for thirteen days, and then Jeff Katzenberg, the producer, called me into his office and told me to pack up and go home, saying I had everything I needed.
Winkler and Hanks’ dog seemed to hit it off. “I really loved that dog,” Winkler said, “we got along wonderfully.”
He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”
Those who watched The Hills likely recall Lauren’s famous line from the start of season three. The drama between her and Heidi began when Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt. It escalated when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor about her and Jason Wahler, alleging she’d made a sex tape with him.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out after the release date for Fast & Furious 9 was delayed until April 2020. On the same day, a spin-off movie featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was announced, scheduled for 2019. Shortly after, Tyrese said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne Johnson remained involved.
Tyrese revealed on the The Red Pill podcast with Van Lathan that he still hasn’t spoken directly with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, though he hopes to. He did, however, talk to one of The Rock’s producing partners, but not the actor himself.
Tyrese admitted he shouldn’t have publicly shared frustrations that were voiced by multiple people connected to the franchise. He explained that he was the one who spoke out, and he takes responsibility for that, calling it unprofessional and a mistake.

No more bad blood here.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry had a long-running public disagreement, rumored to be the inspiration behind Swift’s song “Bad Blood.” The conflict, which began with issues over a shared backup dancer and rivalry during concert tours, was resolved when Perry sent Swift an actual olive branch as a peace offering before Swift’s Reputation Tour began.
Taylor shared in an Instagram video that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, saying it meant a lot to her.
Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For years, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, stars of Sex and the City, dismissed rumors of a disagreement. However, those rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to participate in a third movie and made some pointed comments about her co-star.
During a September 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall’s statement to Piers Morgan that they had only ever been coworkers, not friends.
She was deeply upset, saying she felt heartbroken. They had talked about it all week, and she explained that she didn’t remember things the same way, finding the situation very distressing.
You know, it’s definitely bittersweet, but what I always believe is that shared experiences are what truly bind us together. This wasn’t just a job; it was years of our lives, and that naturally created a personal connection. I’m really hoping that those years of working on something special, something people genuinely connected with, will ultimately outweigh any recent disagreements. It was such a privilege to be a part of something so meaningful for so long.
And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award at the Q Awards, criticized Madonna’s live performances, using strong language. He questioned whether lip-syncing could be considered a live act and suggested that performers who lip-sync during paid concerts shouldn’t be allowed to do so.

The actress, formerly on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to no longer be considered for an Emmy Award. She explained that she didn’t think the storylines she was given were strong enough to deserve a nomination.
Oh my gosh, I remember when Shonda talked about Katherine leaving on Oprah’s show back in 2012! It was on Oprah’s Next Chapter, and Shonda was so honest. She admitted it hurt, but she wasn’t totally shocked, which is so relatable! She said something that’s basically my life motto now: ‘When people show you who they are, believe them.’ Seriously, she lives by that, and it’s honestly brilliant. I try to remember that every day, and it’s helped me SO much, all thanks to Shonda!

The fight between Nicki and Cardi at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week made headlines everywhere. A month later, Cardi publicly explained what started the argument with Nicki.
Cardi B recently told W magazine that another person has been repeatedly criticizing her. They had talked twice before and seemed to resolve things, but the criticism continued.
The conflict truly escalated when Cardi B noticed Nicki Minaj had reportedly reacted to a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting, though Nicki claims she didn’t actually engage with it.
Cardi B explained she turned down a very profitable Bruno Mars tour because she wanted to be with her daughter. She emphasized how much she loves her daughter and considers herself a great mom. She found it frustrating that someone without children would criticize her for a recent incident, adding that opportunities to meet artists casually are rare – she won’t likely run into another one at the grocery store or on the street.

I remember when the drama between Kanye and Taylor first began – it was shocking! Back in 2009, he interrupted her when she was accepting an award at the VMAs, and everyone was talking about it. They actually seemed to work things out and even became friends over the years, which was great to see. But sadly, things fell apart again in 2026 after Kanye released his song “Famous,” where he mentioned Taylor by name, and it just wasn’t the same after that.
Just before the Grammys in February 2025, Kanye West began following only Taylor Swift on Instagram. He didn’t offer any explanation for this action, and Swift didn’t publicly acknowledge it.

“I don’t know her.”
The supposed rivalry between Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez has been talked about for over 15 years. It began during an interview when Mariah was asked about other singers, and when asked about Jennifer, she simply stated, “I don’t know her.”
