I can hardly contain my excitement! Mark your calendars, fellow movie enthusiasts, because I’ve just learned that ITV has officially announced the release date for “The Hack,” the long-awaited phone hacking drama featuring the incredibly talented David Tennant. The wait is nearly over!
As a cinema enthusiast, I’m eagerly looking forward to the premiere of the gripping series penned by Jack Thorne. This series delves into the phone-hacking scandal that ultimately led to the closure of the News of the World. You won’t want to miss it when it airs on ITV 1 on Wednesday, 24th September, starting at 9pm.
Viewers can look forward to streaming the episodes of the series on ITVX prior to their broadcast on ITV1.
Written by Jack Thorne, the drama revolves around the main characters of Nick Davies (played by Tennant) and Dave Cook (portrayed by Robert Carlyle). Nick is an investigative journalist known for exposing phone-hacking at News of the World, while Dave is a former Met Police detective chief superintendent who led probes into the unsolved murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan.
Among the cast, we have Toby Jones from “The Post Office” portraying Alan Rusbridger, a past editor-in-chief of “The Guardian,” and Steve Pemberton from “Inside No. 9” stepping into the role of Rupert Murdoch.
Among the talented cast, I find myself in great company – Rose Leslie (Miss Austen), Dougray Scott (Crime), Eve Myles (Torchwood), Adrian Lester (Hustle), Katherine Kelly (Protection), Kevin Doyle (Line of Duty), Neil Maskell (Hijack) and Lara Pulver (Spooks).

Alongside Lee Ingleby (“The Long Shadow”), Pip Torrens (“Poldark”), Lisa McGrillis (“Rivals”), Sean Pertwee (“The Night Caller”), Robert Bathurst (“Cold Feet”), and Richard Pepple (“The Rig”) are also part of the cast.
Alternatively, This ensemble includes Lee Ingleby from “The Long Shadow”, Pip Torrens of “Poldark”, Lisa McGrillis in “Rivals”, Sean Pertwee of “The Night Caller”, Robert Bathurst known for “Cold Feet”, and Richard Pepple starring in “The Rig”.
Additionally, we have actors such as Nadia Albina (from Passenger), Phil Davis (known for Whitechapel), Ace Bhatti (recognized in Alex Rider series), and Charlie Brooks (familiar from EastEnders) joining our ensemble.
In a remarkable shift, David Tennant showcases an entirely new side of himself in “The Hack” – a dimension hitherto unseen by the audience. Similarly, Robert Carlyle delivers an exceptional change in his role as well.
The focus is on the internal workings of the phone hacking scandal, giving a dual perspective that ultimately uncovers the reality of events surrounding that period.
