With the sequel to The Batman on the way, fans can expect more stories featuring Batman and his world across both movies and TV. While The Batman (2022) was Bruce Wayne’s last big movie appearance so far, it also launched a whole universe of spin-off stories that will expand alongside the new DC Universe. Over the next few years, DC plans to release new adventures for this famous hero, some of which will fit into the main DC storylines, and others that will exist separately.
Before the release of The Batman – Part II, Warner Bros. is planning five new Batman-related movies and TV shows for both cinemas and HBO Max. Although DC Studios is starting to develop other Batman stories for the DC Universe, including The Brave and the Bold, Batman will remain a key character for Warner Bros. in the superhero genre for the time being.

Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2

Created by renowned Batman animator Bruce Timm, Batman: Caped Crusader reimagines the hero’s beginnings and introduces new takes on classic villains. Featuring the voices of Hamish Linklater, Christina Ricci, and Diedrich Bader, the series presents Batman as a detective in a gritty, 1940s noir setting – a fresh, period-style take on the DC legend.
The show focuses on the core traits that make Batman who he is, but it begins with Bruce Wayne being relatively unknown to the people of Gotham. As he fights iconic villains like Harley Quinn, Two-Face, and a new version of the Penguin, he gradually becomes a more public figure. Season 2 will continue to explore Bruce’s journey as he learns to balance his life as a superhero with protecting Gotham from the darkness, all while remaining largely hidden from public view.
Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 will debut on Amazon Prime Video sometime in 2026.
Batman: Knightfall Part 1

Warner Bros. Animation revealed plans at New York Comic-Con 2025 to adapt the classic DC Comics storyline Knightfall into a multi-part animated movie. The original Knightfall comic, published in three chapters from 1993 to 1994, features the villain Bane breaking out all of Batman’s enemies from Arkham Asylum and driving Batman to his absolute limit.
Jeff Wamester will direct the upcoming movie, with a script by Jeremy Adams. Although the actors haven’t been announced yet, Batman: Knightfall Part 1 is scheduled to be released in 2026.
Clayface

DC Studios is planning a standalone, R-rated movie focusing on Clayface, one of Batman’s most notorious enemies. The film, which is part of the new slate of projects from co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, will be set in Gotham City and explore the frightening story of Matt Hagen’s transformation into the shapeshifting villain. While specific plot details are still secret, some rumors suggest it could be a prequel.
James Watkins is directing a new movie written by Mike Flanagan. Tom Rhys Harries will star as Matt Hagen, with Naomi Ackie and Max Minghella also appearing in supporting roles. Filming is expected to wrap up in early November 2025, and the film, titled Clayface, is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
Batwheels Season 3

Younger fans of DC Comics can continue enjoying Batman adventures with the third season of Batwheels, now streaming on Max. This animated series features a fun twist: DC’s most famous heroes and villains are reimagined as super-powered vehicles – like the Batmobile, Batgirl Cycle, Batwing, and Batcompute – fighting crime in a whole new way.
Joining Ethan Hawke, who previously starred in Moon Knight, as the voice of Batman are Jacob Bertrand, Mick Wingert, and Leah Lewis, known for her role in Elemental. The third season of Batwheels is scheduled to premiere on Max in 2026.
Now Airing: Bat-Fam

Following the animated film Merry Little Batman from 2023, Bat-Fam is a new Amazon Prime Video series focusing on Batman and his allies. Featuring the voices of Luke Wilson, Yonas Kibreab, James Cromwell, and Bobby Moynihan, the show explores the dynamics of the Bat family as they battle a variety of classic DC Comics villains.
At New York Comic-Con, the team behind the upcoming Bat-Fam series shared some hints about the show. They revealed it will explore the complicated relationships within the “Bat-Family” and feature villains like Toyman, Clayface, and Killer Croc. A central focus will be the evolving bond between Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian, as they learn to fight crime together and build their relationship as father and son.
Bat-Fam began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on Monday, November 10.
