DC’s Lanterns Adds One More to Cast (& We Know Who They’re Playing)

In the DC Universe’s “Lanterns” series, up-and-coming actor Cary Christopher has joined the cast. As reported by Deadline, Christopher will portray a recurring character named “Young Noah,” who is a polite and charming small-town kid with exceptional skills in various activities, but particularly in football. This character fits perfectly with the realistic tone that the show has established so far. The series stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, a seasoned Green Lantern preparing for retirement, and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, a new recruit being trained to take over from Jordan. Currently in production, the series is scheduled to debut on HBO Max in 2026.

Christopher first appeared on screen in the show “Mr. Mom”, however, it’s his portrayal of Thomas DiMera on “Days of Our Lives” that really put him on the map, even earning him a Daytime Emmy nomination at the tender age of seven. He has previously worked alongside Nathan Fillion from “Lanterns” in “The Rookie”, and will also be seen in the upcoming “Spider-Noir” series. This weekend marks Christopher’s feature film debut in the horror movie “Weapons”, and he has several other projects lined up as well.

The DC Universe has made a strong start with the Green Lantern Corps, with Fillion delivering a standout performance as Guy Gardner in Superman. Given that the Lanterns are tasked with maintaining peace across a vast expanse of space, one might anticipate this series to feature Jordan and Stewart venturing into deep space. However, all the official descriptions from DC suggest that this story will unfold on Earth instead.

James Gunn described the series as remarkably grounded and rooted in reality, despite its fantastical elements like space police with magical rings. In an interview on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast, he mentioned that the narrative starts with Jordan and Stewart investigating a murder in Nebraska, leading to deeper mysteries and confrontations.

The new information makes sense as to why Noah’s character might be part of the storyline, although it still leaves several unanswered questions. The upcoming show, being the fourth installment in the DC Universe, is expected to follow “Creature Commandos,” “Superman,” and “Peacemaker” Season 2. Interestingly, it will come before “Supergirl,” which is currently in post-production and slated for release on June 26, 2026. Given that “Supergirl” is described as a space-traveling road trip movie, it seems plausible that the Green Lantern Corps could provide some necessary background or setup.

The answers to all our queries are forthcoming, though we’re yet undecided about the specific timeline. For now, there’s no definite launch date for “Lanterns”, but it is anticipated to make its debut on both HBO and HBO Max around early 2026. The upcoming DCU title is none other than “Peacemaker” Season 2, which will be premiering exclusively on HBO Max starting August 21st.
